I don't k of about Ford, but in my gmc, I purchased a separate ecm that I could swap out when/if it needed service.

I want to say the factory 20s are about 14 lbs a piece heavier than the 18s. I would help a little.
It's different with Ford. Ford computers can detect if a non-ford program has been installed and throw a diagnostic code. I did the same on my GM a while back.
