Fox News vs MSNBC
So basically, MSNBC and Fox are flip sides of the same coin, but unlike liberals, conservatives seek news which reinforces their previously held belief systems. Liberals look for more moderate options. Not surprising.....especially when viewing it through the lens of the cartoonish conservative characters on the Poli forum.(you know who you are )
quote:
MSNBC is the liberal cable-news outlet; Fox News is the conservative cable-news outlet. As the chart above shows, liberal-thinking people do not reward MSNBC for advancing their views on air; conservative-thinking people highly reward Fox News for advancing their views on air. In the words of the Pew study: “When it comes to choosing a media source for political news, conservatives orient strongly around Fox News. Nearly half of consistent conservatives (47%) name it as their main source for government and political news, as do almost a third (31%) of those with mostly conservative views. No other sources come close.”

. And here’s a downer for morale at the “Lean Forward” network: As many moderately liberal respondents reported relying on FOX NEWS! as reported relying on MSNBC.

Basically because the other "more moderate options" are also liberal in slant
People have confirmation bias. Color me shocked

And 80% of professed liberals get most of their news from MTV.

LOLOLOLOL. Yeah, um, moderate isn't anything remotely close to what's on MSNBC.
The reason Fox News resonates with conservatives is EVERY OTHER news station covers the same old shite and have the same caricatures in different suits / pant suits.
Heck, it's the same reason liberals watch as well. Same shite on all the other networks.
But at the end of the day, all of them do the same thing: cater to their base and warp the minds of those who partake.

Terrible article is terrible.
Conservatives have no other options for news programming. Liberals have abc nbc cbs Cnn.

Here is just one example of why ppl watch Fox over MSNBC or CNN. During the height of the Russia, Ukraine, Crimea shite show, Fox covered ukraine, domestic shite, and the missing plane. CNN 100% missing plane 24/7 and MSNBC well I can't remember but it was bad.

So less than half of all conservatives use FOX as their news source and you people are still obsessed with it

Yep, there is only one liberal outlet.

I am conservative, but I strictly watch MSNBC for news.
Morning Joe in the morning, and catch a glimpse of maddow, chris whatever his name is, and others at night.
Keeps me sharp when dissecting the liberal mindset and talking points. My friends and peers can't understand why I seek to learn what and why "the other side thinks why they think". I think it makes me more tolerant.

been saying this for years. "They know they are right because they only listen to people who tell them they are right"

Actually your link could just as easily be interpreted as evidence that Fox News has a more engaging lineup with a wider variety of viewers, and thus isn't overly conservative.
quote:
okay? You actually hear this often? Cause I don't.
I never hear it. I actually listen to NPR in the car and watch Fox at home (if I want to see the news).
quote:
The fact remains that if you are choosing either extreme you are consciously choosing to consume information with more slant than available alternatives. Period.
That is not a fact just because your assumption is that Fox is as far to the right as MSNBC is to the left....which is entirely dependent on your own personal political beliefs. That also doesn't take into account practical, non-political reasons people watch whatever they watch.
