My dad is a bit of a hard arse in the sense that he never really shows emotion except telling his kid loves them.

Well my paw paw had cancer, got rid of it and it came back and finally took him in '05. I was at my paw paws the night be passed. I was sleeping over and my dad told me "go home he's not ready yet" so I went home. He died that night and I was so pissed at my dad because he made me leave. Turns out my paw paw just didn't want me to see him like that and remember him like that. He was my best friend. I was 17 and still sleeping at his house he was awesome.

Anyway the next morning my dad comes in my room and hugs me and starts crying. I was brought back, he told me he was tired of being strong for everyone else. That hit me just as hard. The only other time I saw him cry was at my maw maws funeral (his mother in law). He treated her like his own mom.

It feels good to know that I'm not alone sometimes. People go through these tragedies every day. My brothers and I are not very close (I have two of them). They both have their own way to grieve. Plus we never spoke much before all this happened. That's one thing I will teach my kids to never do. Stay close to you're brothers. Always. Thank God my wife and kids are here to get me through.
