Interesting to note that at Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Alabama, the top 10 executives have seen salary increases of over 50% over the past 2-3 years.

So it is fair to blame ACA for some of these rate increases, but look into what your insurance company is paying its executives. Some are using ACA to justify huge salary increases.

Can you do the math for me and tell me how much insurance rates would go down to everyone on a BCBS of Alabama plan if those execs completely eliminated their pay rates? Not just reduced them to the previous levels, but completely eliminated.

I have a feeling the point you're trying to make really isn't a very valid point.

I'm not saying rates would go down at all. Insurance rates rarely, if ever, go down. I'm pointing out that for this particular company, their executive pay has increased at around the same percentage many people have seen their rates increase, and I don't think it is sheer coincidence. ACA has provided them cover to do this and pass the buck to ACA. And that's not to say ACA would not have caused rates to increase absent of these salary increases, because it would have.
