According to the coaches poll, it's 10.33 avg finish. Starting last year: 14,12,2,8,17,31,1,3,5. Bye

thanks for doing the coaches poll for me...I did the AP....here is what I found.

LSU 10.1 average over the last 9 years.....

other notables....and this is assigning a 26 for teams that did not finish in the top 25...which actually hurts lsu since they were in the top 25 all but one year...at year end...

Oklahoma - 12.78
Tx - 14.2
USC - 12.3
Oregon 11.2
Ohio St 7.9
Mich - 18.4
Mich St - 19.7
Wisc - 17
Aub - 16.1
Alabama - 9.5
Georgia - 16.7
Fl - 13
South Car - 19.2
Fl St - 19.4

So, LSU, over the last 9 years, is the third ranked program, only a small % behind Bama, and behind Ohio St (which I don't need to explain the big 10).

I find it funny when you guys say, but yeah, he has underperformed in certain games......which coach hasn't......unbelievable.....LSU is ranked 3rd overall for average finish under Miles...yet he is a buffoon.....hell, just imagine if we had a great coach.

heck, if we are ranked #3 now, with a better coach than miles, we would be ranked as high as #-3. !!

huh? is that right? am i doing this right?

p.s. i understand these are not kids that don't understand that miles is #3. you have to drink a lot more than an alcoholic to discount miles!
and that is guys way over 30!

First of all, in many ways and uniquely among the top echelon of college coaches, he absolutely is a buffoon. Everyone thinks this, because he has made it clear on numerous occasions. His defenders cannot hide that.

The question is whether it matters that he is a buffoon in many ways. His haters, like me, believe it does matter, that it has negatively effected LSUs performance relative to what it could have been in a decade that LSU should have dominated and instead was second best. Granted, we were second best to an all time great coach and program, but I don't believe we had to be. We have all seem the on-field performance, the record, the 2-loss championship season, etc. Quoting the record doesn't do anything to change the opinion of people who have watched every second of every game and seen Miles in action for 10 years.

So with all these numbers why does the majority of this board and media "experts" feel that Les Miles has underperformed but we don't have the same thing happening at Alabama? Because while these numbers are true and nice, apparently they don't matter to fans and the media. Division, Conference, National Championship trophies matter. BCS bowl trophies. These numbers do show the incredible consistency that LSU has had over the long haul, but they also show that lately we are good, but not good enough for big boy trophies.

So, if you include years of Alabama under a coach that got fired, they still finish better than LSU. Now I see what would happen if we had a great coach.
