I had a collision at the plate Freshman year of high school. My spleen was lacerated into 4 pieces. Spent 3 days in the hospital on morphine. Two weeks on bed rest and held out of physical activity for like 3 months. Not how you wanna spend a summer as a 15 year old kid.

And it could have been avoided if the catcher got outta the way without the ball. Ball wasn't even close. Didn't change the play. Just a catcher refusing to give up the plate.

The rule is good.
