One nitpick: If Barry is running 650 mph to stay above water and he's barely outrunning that wave.... I don't think that waves move at 650 mph, even if they're caused by an explosion.

I thought they were just using the waves to show the blast radius of the explosion. How fast would a blast radiate out?

I don't know, I'm not a scientist. Just seemed odd that he had to accelerate to keep ahead of the wave when he was already going 650 mph.

Still stoked that he was running on water and up buildings and stuff.

And Grodd.

And blurred his face! I've said it a bunch of time already, but I still can't get over how well they've been able to pull his superpowers off for tv.

I think plastique isn't dead yet. I mean her power in the comic let's her explode and still be alive, maybe she did that and reformed minus the bullet in her chest.

Also multiplex could've had another clone running around. And lastly its possible weather guys brother also has weather powers.

Or they're all dead. OR there's some time traveling mumbo jumbo and they come back

Is it possible wells is connected to brainiac? Didn't he talk to someone in his room and I know braniac dabbled in time travel.

Eddie is almost definitely reverse flash (in my mind, no proof) though which is hilarious that he basically came back in time to frick flashes wife..

Here is a clip that was released before yesterday showing some stuff for the next couple of episodes (including last night's): LINK

If you skip to the 52 second mark, you see an image that Wells is apparently talking to on his future computer screen thing. While I guess it could be Brainiac, I don't know why Brainiac would want Flash around to save the planet. I'm guessing he is talking to The Monitor.

I thought the same thing. They need the Flash in order to save the universe from the Crisis.

its pretty insane that season one is going to be centered by one of the biggest events in DC Comics history. what a ballsy first season. but great job going for it

not sure if it was mentioned but they cast Jason Rusch this week, the other half of the young team for Firestorm. Its very interesting which version of the character we will get. maybe both? since they have introduced ronnie raymond already and are still set to introduce martin stein. stands to reason we will get an evolution of the character.

It'll definitely be interesting to see how they handle all three characters. I could see them doing some sort of evolution, or going with the 52 version and have Stein just be a mentor type figure to them.

Didn't some set pics of stunt men dressed as the flash and reverse flash get posted a few weeks ago? Would Eddie be able to become him so quickly?

eta: Link to set photos for reference

Eddie would already be him. Eobard Thawne comes from the future in the comics.

Or Eddie is Eobard's father.

Wells

Here's a pretty well thought out theory on Wells identity.

He's Future Barry

quote:

Dr. Harrison Wells is Barry Allen, approximately 15 years older.

The Flash has been swerving viewers into believing Wells to be a sort of villain (Zoom?), but it’s only that: A swerve. We know that it’s likely that Eobard “Eddy” Thawne is Zoom, using a first name alias that sounds accurate to the times.

All of Wells’ actions have been geared towards securing a certain future and Wells has a suspicious knowledge of how Barry’s powers work. Viewers assume he’s using calculations, but Wells is rarely shown doing so. The answers just come from the top of his head.

If you pay close attention, it seems Wells has seen all of this before. This is known history to him.
We know that in 2024, the Flash vanishes in a Crisis.

In reality, he only vanished because he was chasing Thawne back in time to try to prevent his mother’s death.

Something happens that leaves Barry stranded in 2014 without any super powers. He’s only left with a ton of time to prepare for the future, knowing that he will encounter his younger self soon and debut as the Flash.

Wells has suggested to other characters that he wants to reclaim what he’s lost. Viewers assume he means his natural mobility, but he’s actually referring to his speed powers and his mother.
We recently learned that Barry Allen is 25 years old.

Do the math. 25(2014)+10 years=35(2024).
If Wells has been trapped in the past from the moment Zoom killed Barry’s mother, add another 15 or so years to it.
35+15=50, approximately the age Harrison Wells appears to be.

There’s also the issue of his name.
In the past, Barry has listed The Time Machine as his favorite book…
Who’s the writer of that book? H.G. Wells.
This is Barry being a dork about his clever alias of Dr. Harrison Wells.
Dr. Wells’ glasses and wheelchair are there as a disguise. A cover. He didn’t start using the chair until he anticipated meeting Barry Allen and having people witness their interactions. He’s trying to increase the difference between their similarities while still remaining familiar to the people who’ve known him for the past 15 years.

What jumpstarted this theory? I was using the Flash as background noise and found that I was confusing Dr. Wells and Barry’s lines due to the similarities in their voice and delivery.
Then I compared their faces. Their nose, their mouth, their ears and hair..Their build. The actor was obviously cast due to his similarities to Grant Gustin (if aged close to 50) and has been delivering his lines similar to Gustin.
Dr. Harrison Wells is Barry Allen, aged 50ish, having gotten stranded in the past at age 30, around 15 years ago, while pursing Zoom back in time to save his mother.

I'm pretty sure I've seen a few here go with the Barry in the Future angle but I liked his reasoning.

its an interesting theory, but why would he be so ruthless? He has killed in cold blood before and acted in ways that Barry wouldnt. We dont really know a motivation that Barry, while saving the world, gets trapped in the past and becomes evil.

it kind of reinforces the zoom theory. Barry chases Zoom to the past, but zoom gets stuck.

Yeah, Barry wouldn't be killing folks in cold blood (like he did with Stagg), or sending others to kill folks (like he did with Plastique).

I'm sticking with my Pariah theory.

Same here. Also, why would Future Barry be so upset when Capt. Cold stole Cisco's ice gun. If Wells really is Future Barry, wouldn't he have known it was going to happen and wouldn't have gotten so pissed at Cisco about it? And wouldn't he have prevented it from being stolen?

Also, I don't think Future Barry would create Gorilla Grood, knowing that he would end up being one of his biggest adversaries.

Now, maybe it's a Future Barry from an alternate timeline or dimension. We all know Flash was the first to break through the dimensional barrier and to visit Earth 2.

I made a point early in the season about how cheesy the acting was in the show. The standoff between the girl and the military was the cheesiest of the cheese. This show is still going to bring in 3 million a pop, but man is the acting baaaaaad. In the main cast it's lessened, but the guest stars acting has much to be desired
