Yeh man...

I was excited and I was hoping I wasn't expecting too much (w/o really knowing what to expect) if that makes any sense. I was not disappointed one bit. As a matter of fact, my buddy who basically got me started on getting a turntable was the first I called. I told him we needed to get him some real shite. he has this little TT in a box basically. I told his cheap arse we would get him something nice for his new house. I'll get that done when I get him in here to listen.

I kind of got them halfassed and put it on... and all I could think was this shite is awesome. the sound was amazing (to me). I listened to isbells southeastern and it reminded me of watching him live the couple of times I've seen him. They have great clarity (again to me) and I could hear details you can't here off of the digital stuff. Listened to a couple more albums. Then I switched up the mood and connected Bluetooth to the amp and played "shine on you crazy diamond" . Played for a couple minutes then decided to finally turn it up and holy shite! Felt like I was hearing the song new again. The bass kicked in with it turned up and it's a good tight bass.

That being said, I didn't realize what I actually had until I listened to Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds live at music city. Wow. I just sat there and listened to the whole album, drinking some cold ones. Felt like I could hear every strum and pick of every string. Again just me, but I went from not driving to driving a classy sports sedan... like an Audi S8 or something. Again, this shite was through a Bluetooth connection. I want the album now.
The really sound good cranked up a bit, but at low volume you can still hear everything. Just not a ton of bass, which i knew going in with these vandys. That being said I've already started to plan kind of what I'd like to do in the future.

The Nomad makes it easy to upgrade the cart from the ortofon red, to blue and to the black. Maybe possibly getting the vandy sub and or several other things. Maybe a better or (not necessarily better) more powerful amp and use the vena as a pre amp. As of now that won't happen for a while, but my need for research will fill the passing time. At least I have some sort of idea now and I know I can get some big time advice will
Keep that upgrade bug around.

Can't thank you enough for helping me out with all this Marco. Appreciate it!

Now I just need my cables back!

Also...remember that the Vena has a 24/96 DAC--you can download Audirvana Plus for $50...this will allow you to use a hi-rez player with Apple iTunes as a library system. It basically "boots out" itune's player, but still allows you to use its interface.

What does this mean to you? For $50 and the cost of a hi-rez download ($20), you can plug your computer directly into the DAC on the Vena and stream hi-Rez 24/96 within minutes...they sound fantastic.

You can buy hi-Rez files from AcousticSounds and HDTracks. There are plenty others, but those are more established and have large selections.

You can download Audirvana, Amarra, or Pure Music...they all do the same thing and are all around $50--they replace the "player" in iTunes with its own while allowing you to still use iTunes as a library system.

Why do you need to download one of these players?--because while iTunes will store hi-rez files, the "player" in iTunes is only capable of resolutions up to 16/44.1k (CD quality).

Try it out--you have a nice new DAC in the Vena...
