It still hasn't really hit me yet that he is retiring. I guess I just always figured he would be around, and the sad thing is that unlike Alexi Lalas, or Waynalda, his personality will be that once he quiets he won't be heard of again.

Also I wish Klinsmann would have just shut up this week. He won, no best USMNT player in the history of the USMNT on the team. He won so just shut up and get out of the way.

I think the reason he is going out of his way to shite on LD this week is to basically rationalize his decision to leave him off the plane to Brazil. And not just rationalize for the public, but to rationalize for himself.

As always, everyone's going to get all butthurt, but I don't think what Jurgen said was even that insulting. If you're soft, maybe, but otherwise, I agree completely. I think Landon could have played at the highest level and been an elite player in the world. He chose not to, and that's okay. It's not an insult to insinuate that he could have done that, though. I believe it's a testament to his skill.

That doesn't discount what he's accomplished in this country. It doesn't discount a damn thing he's done, but it's completely okay for people to have differing opinions. It doesn't mean respect isn't there. People act like it's wrong to say Landon could have played at the highest level consistently as if it's an insult. It isn't. Very few people have the skill to be truly great at that level, and Landon showed flashes of it several times. A lot of us did want to see him grow in a better league, but instead, he chose to grow our league. There's nothing wrong with that. It's just stupid to act like it's offensive to say he could have competed against the best in the world every week and flourished in that environment.
