WTF is that?

Would it boot in safe mode?

I would actually have fun seeing if I could get all of that crap off.

Might as well just reformat unless he has something he needs.

As you said, no sense getting a new computer because he will click on any blinking add that tells him he needs to scan his PC.

Maybe, but I'd have to find a VGA cable to connect to a spare monitor to navigate around since the panel is destroyed.

I looked at some of the internals today, and I'm guessing this laptop is about 10-11 years old. 512MB DDR 333MHz, IDE hard drive, legacy serial and parallel ports, single core Celeron M... My dad I could try to sell the parts, but this shite is so worthless that I've practically lost money just by taking a few minutes to look inside of the laptop. The memory is expandable to a gig, but what's the point? I'm guessing that my brother was so desperate to make this thing go faster that he googled "speed up my PC" and just downloaded everything.

I'll probably recommend that my dad get a 256gb SSD and a $299 cheapo notebook from best buy, and then I'll lock UAC down as much as possible.

There's no way I'd have the patience to perform any scans or uninstallations on that hard drive.
