Maybe because you are speeding past people's front lawns. Crazy concept, I know.
There is a sidewalk on both sides of the road. It's not like traffic is right on top of each house like in some parts of Louisiana.

If the road is designed for 45 MPH, you won't see it posted a tick above that. But 35 is ridiculous and the residents should probably go right ahead and frick themselves.

you can thank Delgado for that. He thinks the black folks that live in the area are to stupid to not get killed by speeding motorists. He believes their thought processes are so slow that they need the additional time to react to a possible traffic situation.

I'm failing to see how a sidewalk affects what I said.

People in Baton Rouge will bitch about anything. I love how Perkins Road is 45 mph despite being only two lanes from Airline Hwy in Prairieville to Siegen Lane. There are houses all along the road throughout the majority of that stretch of highway and somehow the residents manage to survive each day.
Bro, I drive that every day. And I have to think that it's not just about noise but... notice that new stretch of expanded Staring Lane is snugly in BRPD jurisdiction. And what are they doing along that stretch not a month after lowering speed limit? that's right. Chicken shite.
Look at newly expanded HIhgland Road. That speed limit went UP from 45 to 55. You have Ruffinos, Healing Place, a votec school, businesses and a frickin railroad crossing. But, it's in EBR jurisdiction. I don't think it's coincidence.

Not really sure what you're trying to get across here, but cool.
it's fricking stupid to have a road designed for 45 mph have a speed limit of 35...especially if it makes the conditions more unsafe.

FIFY
You would never make the speed limit of a road the design speed. There's no factor of safety there.

Not to derail or anything but GOD DAMNED AP particularly pvill, st amant and northern Gonzales have some DANGEROUS roads and drivers.
No shoulder, no dividers, 45-55 mph and ZERO speed enforcement.
Add pedestrians at night and it's every week a fatality from 61 on the west , 431 to the east, 42 to the north, and Stringer Bridge to the South.
Amen, man. I said that for years while living down there.
Imagine trying to learn how to drive whenever you got some redneck riding your arse at 55 on one of those roads you described.
What makes it worse is all of the dumbasses that ride their bikes along the highway and the individuals that let their dogs roam free on highway-adjacent property.

They needed to reduce it, and I am glad they are running radar to help curb the speeding.
No. You just need to drive like a grown man.

Just shut up. several of the richest folks in BR live on this stretch. 45 mph from Highland to Bayou Manchac(AP line). That house, That there is a very wealthy business owner in the AP but lives on edge of BR. He ain't bitching.

So what happens when people go above the speed limit, which you know will happen? Then they are exceeding the design speed, which is unsafe.
And I'd love to hear the justification on how lowering the limit 5 mph made the road less safe.

now I have to deal with this and the frick sticks that take an hour to make a left turn at the light on Burbank and Staring.

apparently that's what the engineers said at the meeting...didn't somebody post that link last page

When you consider that Staring turns into Essen, which has a 45 mph speed limit despite the lack of a median, it's pretty ludicrous that they haven't updated the speed limit since the road was widened.
It was 40 (should be 45). People bitched and Delgado got it dropped to 35.
Retarded.

They go faster, clearing congestion, lowering the chance of collisions.
Next question.

Pass.
There are way more intersections with Staring in less distance compared to the part of Perkins you link.

And when they lose control and then sue the state for a road not designed to be safe?

Bluebonnet from Highland to Jefferson. You lose. Now you can shut up.
Expanded Bluebonnet.
