They're more balanced than auburn.

Because aub has Sammy coates and duke williams who will kill our smaller corners even if they have great coverage. I wouldn't be surprised to see aub pass alot.

2011 defensive team would have made anyone look like a great coach. Just saying.

Agree. I'm not in favor of chavis as a DC unless we have 8 NFL players out there...then of course I could also be the DC with that kind of talent

No point in stacking the box vs a spread time and leave a WR wide open.

You don't understand what stacking the box is. You can do it against any formation. If a team lines up with no TEs or RBs, and has five WR, you can still stack the box by putting fout DL and two LBs, for example, in the box. That still leaves you with five to cover five in man, or you can play zone.

The box is still stacked because you have one more defender than they have blockers. Similar to when they line up with two RBs and one TE. That gives them seven blockers. If you put eight in the box, it's stacked. You could argue about the QB being the extra player, but if he's not a running QB you can neglect him. That's what makes a truly good dual threat, like Cam Newton, so deadly.

Our first play should be the play action pass out of the two tightend I formation set.

Miss. State disagrees. They spread LSU out and ran for 300 yards, along with scoring 34 pts ( in just over 3 quarters). What reason is there to believe that they'll be able to stop AU?

Our personell is lacking. A better defensive line and MLB make that game a whole lot easier. I can look at that situation and clearly see it's a player execution problem. Although I believe the coaches are at fault for not rotating the DL more (with guys like Herron, Bain, Gilmore) and not starting Beckwith earlier. IMO Beckwith should have been starting b game one to get himself acclimated before the SEC slate came in full force.

great point. except that they're only NFL players after Chief gets done with them.

the 2009 class had 6 defensive players who would go on to be drafted in the first 3 rounds. none of the 6 were 5 stars, none were in the rivals 100, 3 of the 6 were unranked.

Michael Brockers
prospect ranking in the state (Tx.) - 23
prospect ranking nationally - 201
1st round pick of the Rams, number 14 overall

Barkevious Mingo
prospect ranking in the state (La.) - 8
prospect ranking nationally - 155
1st round pick of the Browns, number 6 overall

Morris Claiborne
prospect ranking in the state (La.) - 21
prospect ranking nationally - unranked
1st round pick of the Cowboys, number 6 overall

Kevin Minter
prospect ranking in the state (Ga.) - 18
prospect ranking nationally - unranked
2nd round pick of the Cardinals, number 45 overall

Bennie Logan
prospect ranking in the state (La.) - 20
prospect ranking nationally - unranked
3rd round pick of the Eagles, current starting DT
(note - Logan was the 2nd lowest ranked prospect in the class)

Sam Montgomery
prospect ranking in the state (SC) - 5
prospect ranking nationally - 110
3rd round pick of the Texans

You can't stack the box against auburn simply bc they will spread you out way to much to stack anything, We can afford to play cover zero the whole game.

OP, look at this pic. Do you think it would be wise to "stack the box" against this formation? This is a normal formation for their offense.

Notice how Alabama isn't stacking on this formation. You cannot stack it against a team that runs this wide open. You will be giving up BIG plays left and right.

Here's another formation they run a lot. Look at all the options they have (4) on this play alone. Very hard to defend what they do on offense, and stacking the box isn't going to help the situation.

Because not everyone has a predictable offence similar to LSU. When LSU goes to a 2 TE power-I formation, it is a run and you stack the box.

Ugh. This formation has several pass plays, dude. It will get us a few big plays with Harris in there

Exactly. Look at all that nfl talent. Add a few pro bowl players and about ten more nfl players to the list.

That's my point, with so much talent, anyone would have been a genius.

It almost sounds as if you are misdirecting your angst to the recruiting services.

You don't think brockers and Logan would have shined anywhere after they grew? It wasn't the coaching, they were late bloomers.

Cant stack the box when you have an option quarterback. you can stack when you know the RBs are primarily between the tackles. Nick Marshall won't go there.
