quote:Have you done any research on his old unit? Wolfhound might be able to steer you in a good direction to sniff out any history concerning your grandfather. Maybe find a few left alive he served with. I highly suggest you consider it. I found out my uncle was taken POW twice in Korea, escaped once and was traded in a swap the second time.
But my mother (his oldest of 6 kids) has a big scrapbook of pictures from that era.

I haven't, actually have his discharge papers over my mantle. I'll look into it.

If you know the units he served with Wolf will hook you up, his DD214 won't tell you much, but his pictures etc in the scrapbook will get you in the right area. Hit up Wolfhound and he will email you offline and help a brother out. May I ask what brought this thread on?

At least a fourth of them are criminals.

TT9, I am offering the olive branch. Let's bury the hatchet. Let bygones be bygones.
Fair enough?

Regardless of one's politics, a tip of the hat is deserved for those brave people.

We have had and will always have the world's best military.
we did not have the world's best military until about 1943. Japan, Germany, and Britain were all better than us pre-1943.
The US was second fiddle to UK in most of the 19th century and up until WWII.

I suggested to TT you are a good guy, even for an Army Colonel. I am off to joint base Pearl Harbor in a week or so for a planning conference, then in a month or so back to the sand box for Operation Slap Syria or whatever we are calling the non combat operations of the week.

TT and I had a dust up in a thread (cannot even remember which - doesn't matter). Will see if he is willing to forgive and forget.

Operation Slap Syria
Have a good time brother. I hate TDY but spend a lot of time doing it. Cannot get the hang of DTS no matter how hard I try. Always mess up my voucher settlement.

Continuing resolution has us locked down. No LOA for the 1st quarter yet. I have a final planning conference in November for an exercise I am running January. No word yet. Frustrating.
