re: Crash at Burbank and E. Boyd

These crashes say more for lack of driving skills than for intersection layout.

The fact that accidents and near misses are happening this frequently is all the evidence that is needed to prove there is a problem with the intersection's current setup. Blame it on idiot drivers, God knows there are plenty in this town, but as another poster said you have to take the idiot factor into account when designing the intersection.
Would you rather the city leave the intersection as is?

A little common sense would go along way to fixing the issues with traffic around here.
On a less related note, I spent last week in DC. And for everyone that thinks hsitty traffic is somehow isolated to NOLA and BR, yall should try travelling. The traffic in MAryland made me want to blow my brains out, and a friend showing me around said it was normal.

Thanks, I will.

At this point, yes. The same idiots will ignore whatever new controls are put in place, so why bother?

I drive around this town all day long in each and every corner. I have zero trouble figuring out how to do it without having problems.
People are dumbasses.

The problem with the intersection before they took the light out was that 2 cars on Boyd would get through the intersection each light cycle because of people trying to turn left on Burbank.
My idea: have one direction of Boyd be faced with a green light at a time while the other three directions of travel are faced with a red light. (Burbank could be green in both directions as the light cycled through)

I underlined the issue for you.

They need to put the light back and program it so that each direction of Boyd has a green light while the other three directions are faced with a red light.

It simply is not safe to have a stop sign on a road as heavily used as Boyd where traffic has to cross 5 lanes.
So then there would be three lights in a row, 1) W. Parker, 2)E. Boyd, 3) Jennifer Jean, with the light at E.Boyd cycling 4 ways? That would slow down traffic on Burbank incredibly. They MIGHT be able to time the lights right where it wouldn't slow down Burbank traffic, but that hasn't worked well in other places with multiple lights in a short distance (College Dr, Siegen Ln.).

The biggest problem was people trying to turn left onto Burbank and only two or three cars making it through the intersection.
The biggest problem I saw before the addition of the turn lane & removal of the light was multiple accidents happening when people turned left from Burbank onto E.Boyd and were hit by a car going down Burbank. (Most of the time this happened when 2 opposing cars were turning left, and someone passed the stopped turning car.)

that is why a roundabout there would work wonders.

they could also just put the light back up and like someone said have it to where only one direction goes at a time. Synchronize the 3 lights so the traffic flows together.

That would be 3 lights in about 850 feet. That's just unnecessary. If people would just obey the controls there, it would work fine. However, these same people need to understand that the flow on Burbank is what is important, not people coming from Boyd.

The current problems are way worse than it was before. You can sit here and say it should work and blame it on dumb drivers but all of that should have been taken into account before.
Its like having an emergency evacuation plan where everyone is told to stay calm and follow orders, but we know people will freak out and shove old ladies over to save themselves. Whoever decided to change this intersection should have known this was going to happen like the rest of us, but apparently they just said "frick it".

I guess we should just never change anything ever then.

Not what I said at all. But everyone on this sit knew that specific change would lead to all these problems.

Maybe the entitled to turn left jackoffs that can't follow simple directions should not play dumb. Problem solved.

I dont disagree. But we all knew that would happen.
