Isn't arguing that voter ID is bigotted against minorities racist?

All these lefties that claim that voter ID laws and shorter early voting periods are racist and disenfranchise minorities - isn't this way of thinking racist in and of itself?

They are basically saying that minorities are so inept, so inferior, so incompetent, that they are unable to obtain a voter ID or get to the polls within 3 or 4 weeks.

That sounds awfully racist to me. Saying minorities are so incompetent that they can't even do a task as simple as going to vote, or obtaining an ID.

No, they're too stupid or lazy to get an ID or vote in a timely fashion. Signed, DNC

the subtle racism of lowered expectations is the new racism of the Democratic party, replacing Jim Crow of the first half of the 20th century

No.

The argument is dumb because the laws as written aren't inherently racist. In some areas they do impact minority voters, but that doesn't make them inherently racist.

It's just another ploy to keep certain voters from voting and it conjures up the poll quizzes and taxes from the Jim Crow era, so they get slapped with that label by some.

requiring voter ID isn't bigotted or racist imo, but you'd have to be extremely naive to think that some of the efforts of lawmakers prior to the 2012 election to get these voter ID laws passed wasn't an attempt at hurt the Democrats

I'm all in favor of requiring picture ID in order to vote

Yes. The idea that certain groups aren't quite up to the task of obtaining photo identification falls within the dictionary definition of racism.

You make both an excellent point and an accurate one, goldennugget.

The problem is, this issue has nothing to do with logic. The Dems demagogue this "issue" for at least two reasons. For one, they like to scare minorities into thinking that it's still 1962, and that big, bad white men are still plotting to take away their right to vote. For anyone who either watched or heard Eric Holder's resignation announcement, both Obama and (especially) Holder harped on how hard Holder had worked to protect the voting rights of all Americans. That was a total sham, but it resonates with Keisha and Tyrone, and the liberal media reports it like it's a real issue, too.

Secondly, the less security you have regarding voting and elections, the easier it is to commit voter fraud. That's almost exclusively a tactic employed by the Dems, and they are more than happy with the status quo.

Just one more instance where Obama, Holder and most Dems show themselves to be phonier than a $3 bill.

Obtw, delegates to the 2012 Democratic National Convention were not allowed inside the facility where the convention was being held unless they could provide a valid photo ID.

Oh, the irony......

Well of course.

Everyone knows blacks are too stupid and poor to obtain an ID!

Seriously... I don't care who you are, if you are against voter ID, you have serious issues.

You seriously need to look up the word "racist".

Either that or flip your iPhone video setting to selfie.

so why did you say it?

The actual argument is that minorities, in factual reality, tend to not have proper ID at higher rates than whites - and that the R's know this - so their motivation is clearly to disenfranchise minorities, since they vote mostly D. This is reinforced by the actual statements of Republicans.

But I know it would burn too many brain cells for you to argue against facts, so go ahead and just make up whatever arguments you want for the D's and argue against that.

It is just another example of lowering standards.

T register to vote you need to prove who you are, you need to prove your age, and you need to establish where you live.

But somehow it's bad that when you actually go to the polls to vote you have to prove who you are. That makes no sense.

So I guess you would support a law requiring all taxpayers to turn in their tax returns in person so they can show valid ID?

after all - we can't have people turning in tax documents under the name of someone they are not.

Acting paternalistic towards minorities is just fine if your intentions are good.

Sincerely,

It is very simple.

If I walk into Academy today to exercise my 2nd Amendment right (purchase a firearm), I MUST show ID.

Therefore, to be allowed to handle something at lease as important (the franchise), people cannot complain they have to show ID to vote.

No doubt. It's basically saying that a faction of potential voters are either too stupid or lazy to get an ID or disadvantaged which is a load of horse shite. Objectively if you are so disadvantaged that have no reason to get a drivers license or some form of ID, then clearing you don't have the means to make an educated choice at the polls and should be working on other personal priorities anyway. Dems herding people to be voting for the sake of voting for their candidates with little or no knowledge of the issues is definitely not helpful to our nation.

We are rapidly approaching a tipping point in which the unproductive majority are setting the direction of our nation. Romney was dead on in his comment about the 47%. The Dems know that all they need to do is appeal to that unproductive, government dependent 47% and elections are all but won.
