maybe if you hipster fricks actually spent some money there instead of getting a black coffee and mooching on the wifi for 5 hours, then they would still be able to keep the doors open.

damn, that place opened up just as I started law school. Spent many a night getting caffeinated there while cramming up on the 4th floor.

We'll probably continue to have the worst off campus scene of the big schools. No one get your hopes up

I can't think of another business in Baton Rouge I would be genuinely upset over its closure. Maybe Bogies. But this place actually facilitated studying and learning.

I genuinely believe that store/building should have historic/landmark zoning restrictions. You couldn't build a place with that much personality today. It's probably going to be a goddamn condo or boutique space.
That whole area has become very fake and commercial since the early 90's....
I knew several people that rented apartments above those Chimes Street bars for less than $100 a month.

She said it was "like a second home" to a lot of people and the tpos property owners have sparked a minor outrage. Im sure they will find a new spot somewhere close to campus and the world will keep spinning.

And I have a hard time believing they were hard up for cash. I was in BR 08-12, and I spent a fortune there.
You're spot on about Bogie's. I'd add Chimes/Varsity, and the original Cane's. That area of NG is the heart & soul of LSU.

This isn't as good of a compliment as it should be. NG is embarrassing for a school of our caliber

Agreed. That area has potential but instead has become soulless and overdeveloped (and sketchy). It's ok though, I'm sure the new Quizno's in Highland Coffee's place will spark a renaissance!

Louie's will be an IHOP in a couple more years.
