Basically we are paying more for less. If you aren't a state employee affected by this then don't act like you know what is going on. Im a LSU hospital employee and our supervisors are telling us to change to the LSU first plan.

Exactly. We are all paying more for less. Most of us realized this last year.

you think our insurance doesn't go up?

you think the coverage doesn't go down?

fact is that after the changes go into effect you still have better plan options than 90% of the workforce

lol, you think state employees are the only ones affected by higher insurance premiums and less coverage? You won't get any sympathy from me - even with these "drastic" changes, your plan still costs less than half what it would command on the open market.

I have LSU first, no complaints here. I pay about $150 a month more than my FIL in the private sector (he pays $0 for a family of 5).

ETA: retirement at 20 years is only if you meet a certain age requirement. I can't just retire at age 44 and ride off into the sunset making the average of my top 3 highest salaries.

Uhh hello that happened to the rest of the fricking country after obamacare kicked in. Pay more for less. Hell I apparently even have a copay for lab work now. Never had that prior to this year,
