Healthy eaters: Do you sometimes get pissed off while eating out with family?

I'm going to a dinner this evening with my girlfriend. She and her family are celebrating her mother's birthday. I've been anxious the entire week, wondering what restaurant she would choose because I realize that my girlfriend's family isn't very health-conscious.

Well, the verdict is in and it looks like we're going to a pizzeria. Now, nearly every eating establishment in existence these days, with the exception of many fast food chains, caters partially to healthy-minded individuals. But not this place.

Everything is buttered, fried, covered in cheese, etc. The only relatively healthy options are a few salads that come with cheese, croutons, pepperoni, and other crap. I realize I can get all of that taken off but I don't want to pay ten dollars for a damn salad. I'm a little pissed off at the restaurant choice to say the least.

I realize that it's her mother's birthday and this day has nothing to do with me other than my invitation, but it's just so damn frustrating.

Has anyone dealt with this before?

I'll never trust a man who won't have pizza from time to time.

Get over it. You are the one with the unreasonable diet.

You sound pretty selfish.

Its not your birthday, its her mom's. You can't suck it up for one 'greasy' meal?

In life you gotta do a bunch of stuff that you don't want to do. Quit whining and get over it.

My wife is a healthy eater and she just puts on her big girl panties and eats the unhealthy stuff so as to not be a twat in situations like this.
But yes, she gets annoyed by it and I have to ignore her bitching later.

Pizzed off about going to a pizzeria? Get the salad and stfu. Don't want to pay a whole $10 for salad?

I would love to hear what they think when they go to some healthy shitty tasting place on your birthday.

like you actually lost sleep over this?

did you need some prozac for that anxiety?

did you maybe see a shrink prior to the unpleasant meal?

Unless you're training for competition, one slice isn't going to be the end of the world. I understand where you're coming from but all you have to do is eat ahead. No big deal.

Dude, it's pizza. If you're so worried about it, eat a couple slices and go for a fricking jog
