The only friends of mine that were finally treated succesfully went out of town and state. There were other factors, but getting a change of scenery on top of getting away from the influences and even their family was a huge factor in them cleaning up.

In my experience with family members local just helped make new contacts.Out of town helped when they were ready.

Definitely. A friend went through similar thing, moved to a different part of MI for a summer, but really helped him out big time.
