Does Kadala give five times the legendaries since she's five times more expensive now? What a dumb whore...

they seem to be blasting it on steam comments though.

Wouldn't surprise me but the steam comments aren't the most credible

28, played since the original Nintendo.

The jump to Mario 64 blew my mind when it came out. ( obviously OoT was better but it did not come out for another two years.)

I'm the same age and began playing at the same time. Mario 64, goldeneye and perfect dark were gamechangers. Halo came along and changed fps again.

Destiny is trying to change how console games are done. With the daily, weekly and special content being released regularly it's taking a mmo approach. Everyone kept complaining about the short story but it's intentionally left open ended to continue to be told through releases and expansions, that's where the 10 year game stuff is coming from. I think it's a nice new approach to storytelling and multiplayer pve/pvp.

id like to get some opinions from stout and SG in regards to experiencing older games

You have called and I have answered !

40 yr old here.

I had PONG. Yes PONG. Seen it all.

NES was a huge jump forward from the Atari 2600/Magnavox days. Then we had smaller jumps. Next the Playstation and Sega Saturn were a pretty damn big jump. Then the PS2 and XBox were HUGE leaps forward, them the PS3 and 360 were big leaps, but not as big. All of those consoles launched with cutting edge hardware. That just isn't happening anymore because of the costs involved. Yeah the PS4 or XBone could have launched with nVidia Titan level graphics power, but the masses wouldn't be able to afford it without MS and Sony taking massive losses up front.

We have hit a point where games look so amazing now that we are no longer WOWED by the incremental graphic updates and are now starting to crave new experiences.

Let's face it, what else can really be done gameplay wise with BF, COD, Madden, The Show, Forza, etc...

We are craving something NEW.

I don't buy as many games now because games bore me quickly. Far Cry3, still haven't finished it. Skyrim, played for a few hours and never touched it again. Bought a WiiU. Played the hell out of it for a few weeks, haven't touched it since. Destiny, played it for 6 hours the day I got it and haven't touched it again. Don't feel compelled to play it.

I find myself looking for the next MMO that my guild mates and I can all get excited about because we always have so damn much fun with each other.

Right now, that game for us is Archeage. Doesn't do a lot of new things, but combines them in such a way that it feels like something different. At some point we will get bored and start waiting for the next thing to come along that grabs us.

Also D3 is nothing compared to D2. Blizzard took the WoW approach to D3 and wanted to market to the most amount of people. So they upped the drop rates, took out being able to place stats and ruined skill trees. D3 was a fun game but it was not as addictive as D2,

Or maybe that is just me being old.

Im 23
As a kid, I was awestruck by the jump from nes/snes to n64/ps1. seeing a n64 with mario 64 for the first time blew my mind
ps2 era was a huge jump and awesome as well.

the improvements between those eras was huge and allowed new and exciting things to be done with games.

ps4/xbone just feel like modern revisions of the ps3/360, with slightly improved graphics and geared towards social/media experience. They are basically just COD/Madden machines. I guess thats where the $ is at though

but its sad that my primary reason for buying an xbone is for remastered old gen games for nostalgia purposes.

Solid points from the individual in the video. I'm 32 and started gaming on an Atari and IBM computer when the only games were galaga, donkey kong and pool... On three floppy disks that you had to use boot commands to run the game.

I don't disagree. They are trying for the MMO console game that'll last for years, but along the way, they missed some crucial elements.

I played the original WoW up to the start of WotLK. When MMOs start out, they need enough to keep people attached for long periods of time so that they can then add additional content.

Destiny jumped the gun. They should have had twice as much to this game before it was released. Destiny was launched two weeks ago and many people have already completed the game.

There is a difference between wanting to leave something open-ended so you can add stuff later and releasing what should be considered an unfinished product.

Maybe I am spoiled. I enjoy games that take 100+ hours to complete, and I really don't mind grinding when there is a payoff in the end. I just feel like the direction of recent games has been grind without the payoff.
