Twins Phil Hughes lost half million because of rain delay

Hughes would have received $500K if he pitched 210 innings this season. He was on the bump with 209 2/3 innings when today's game was hit with a 66 minute rain delay. Atleast he got the win.

Think the club gives him some dough as a nice gesture or are they not allowed to do such a thing?

Charlie Comiskey wouldn't do it.

I suspect the Twins will give him most, if not all of the bonus. Would make them a ton of good pub.

I would roll him back out there for the last game just for an out.

4 games left, they'll find an inning for him somewhere i promise you.

Gardenhire said he wouldn't bring him out of the pen.

Comiskey would piss on the field to get a rain delay to save him the money.

Absolutely - Hughes has been really great for them. Guarantee you they pay it - especially with all the negativity around the Vikes.

Hughes also broke the record for strikeout/walk ratio in a season, I'm pretty sure.
He walked 16 guys all year. And had 16 wins.

Hughes posted an illogical 11.31 K/BB this year.
8.08 K/9 and a stupid .71 BB/9. Hughes walked 16 in 201.2 IP (pretty sure his numbers from his most recent start are not included). Also, Hughes had a 3.61 ERA, 2.67 FIP, and 3.15 xFIP, so his ERA should go down in 2015. Great season.
Honorable mention to the super accurate Hisashi Iwakuma who only walked 21 in 172.2.

Odd home/road splits for Hughes this year

I think those innings limits and issues like that are in contracts for a reason. The Twins don't have to do anything and I'm not sure they can legally.

I heard that the Twins were going to let him pitch a inning or so on Sunday to get it.
