From the TigerRag report on Miles at the SEC coaches teleconference today:

But while LSU fans will get to see the quarterback they’ve been clamoring for, don’t expect to see wholesale changes to the offense itself.

When asked about his team’s struggles against Mississippi State, Miles chalked the loss up to poor execution, not scheme.

"The things we can fix, we’d like to have fixed,” Miles said. "It’s execution really, of stuff and all the things we’ve done in the past.”

Execution is a problem if the right players are not the ones executing the scheme...

if the lines don't do their job it doesn't matter what scheme you have in

it's the O line AND scheming

if you realize you're O line is underperforming, you adjust your playcalling, not run up the middle 90 fricking times continuously

Correct. Players execute, I.e. Block, run to open holes, throw and catch the ball and the O is what it should be

In what fricking magical scheme will 7 guys on the O-line be able to block 10?

so starting off the game with runs right up the middle against guys who could battle for NFL roster spots instead of going after defense backs that UAB were able to exploit.

The whole argument this week about the scheme being a problem bugs me.

Jennings played an awful game last week. The Oline has been atrocious.

LSU can win with this playbook. When your QB and OLine play awful, you might as well light the playbook on fire.

In other words, we just need to settle down and play like Tigers.

What do you expect him to say? "Well guys you know after watching that complete shite show on, I decided you are all right and we are going to overhaul our offense and change to a read/spread option."

He's partially right.. a huge majority of it is poor execution by the OL

Annnnnnnnd that's why nothing is going to change week to week.

No matter how many times it fails us this season.

His stubbornness knows no boundaries

So there is nothing wrong with our scheme when we have no answer for defenses stacking the box?

Well it is hard to execute when everybody in the stadium knows what plays you are running.

Isn't grimes' scheme a zone blocking one?

Zone blocking schemes are good for read option/pistol/spread offenses aren't they? Why would Miles bring in a guy who's system doesn't fit what the teams trying to do?
