It's an obvious yet silly question. Jennings or bust

The QB play isn't about who does/doesn't make mistakes. There hasn't been a single game this year that Jennings showed he can win you a game or provide big plays. Even in the Wisconsin game, if it wasn't for Diarse willing himself to the endzone, we lose that game. At some point, the offense can't simply be a unit that doesn't turn the ball over. Seems obvious, but they have to score points. Harris played with the same o-line Jennings did. It doesn't matter that it was against a 3 man rush or against backups, etc. Miss State's backups were better than any of the 3 opponents we faced prior to the game. Harris proved he can move the ball up the field.

I'm not delusional enough to think Harris won't make freshman mistakes during the year if he starts. But he also gives us a chance to make plays that Jennings hasn't proven he can make.

I've been a huge Jennings supporter, but I think Harris may deserve a shot. Jennings was awful this weekend.

he was missing WRs left and right by a wide margin when he had time. Jennings is only good for 9 routes

Yeah, he was clearly unprepared for the game.

Felt like it was 2009, 2010 & end of 2011 all over again. I thought I was finally done watching that crap but it is back and we get the rest of this year and another 2 years of it.

I can pretty much guarantee this isn't going to happen.

We aren't keeping Harris effectively on the bench until his Senior year (and he would transfer anyways). Jennings will eventually transfer unless he is weird and feels like sitting around BR as a backup.

This has pretty much always been the case unless Jennings was awesome or Harris sucked.

We know the plays Jennings made, but we dont know the plays he didnt make. Coaches will be able to look at film and find out - if there were consistently a bunch of open guys downfield that he didnt see/hit, then we left a bunch of yards on the field.

That, IMO would justify insterting Harris. Otherwise i dont see it. Jennings didnt make that many mistakes.

i think harris should start. really don't have a lot to lose. however, jennings was not given a chance to succeed. in typical les fashion, we had arrogant play calling, running the ball in to the teeth of 8-9 men fronts the entire game with generally no more than 2 receivers in the formation.

OK Les.
When is Miles going to realize that 3-and-outs are essentially turnovers?

I am not sure that 'starting" is anything other than symbolic...I would be just as happy to see him come in after half time...

I do think that we need to start getting him some reps, though...

This. The only way to settle the whole "controversy" is to give them both approximately equal snaps with the first team against a real opponent's first team.

I've said it before: If Harris gets equal playtime and winds up at 50% for maybe 200 and a TD or two, then we really have a QB battle. If Harris comes out and looks like he did in his limited time last week, then the decision should become easier.

Starting is way more than symbolic. It sets you up in charge, against their best effort and players, and as the leader in everyone's eyes, especially the rest of your team. You can succeed or fail without it being tainted by what happened before, with all of the caveats that people like to use to diminish the significance of your performance.

Yeah, so WE can see what the coaches already see everyday in practice. But there's no end to this foolishness. When Harris disappoints, you'll say we should start Kraigthorpe, or Ethelred, for that matter.

Simply because when he plays pretty good against a lesser opponent and then AJ comes in and plays about the same Miles will not have any argument not to start him the following weeks. But they don't want Harris starting on the road against AU,FLA if they can find anyone with two legs and at least one arm to play the position.

If you pull Jennings now and Harris doesn't pan out, you have ruined the confidence of both qb. LSU fans need to get used to a 2 qb system this year. You would have hoped that Jennings separated himself but it just hasn't happened yet.

I really like Harris and would also like to see him start. However I've been around sports enough to know what fans see isn't everything. Good or bad you just have to go with it and trust the program. Even within the program decisions aren't usually based on one persons opinion. Fans want explanations. Insight info and reasoning/explanations isn't a requirement and could expose things that wouldn't be beneficial for the team or players. While we pass judgment and give our opinions we really don't know or see everything.

We see we haven't had consistent play from the QB position in 5 games.

There once was a QB controversy at LSU involving Davey and Booty. It was said Davey practiced bad and Booty good and that's why the coaches favored Booty. We fans didn't know the whole story.

Then comes the Peach Bowl and in the first half, Booty pulled a Jennings and we were getting our asses kicked. The fans chanted "we want Davey". The chants filled the Georgia Dome.

Our coach then apparently wasn't as stubborn as Miles and Davey started the second half only to play lights out and win the MVP along with winning the game.

Miles could learn a lot from watching that game.
