A Few Good Men is anti-military propaganda.

No shocker the Meathead was involved. It was a direct attack on the military, Christianity, and the entire warrior culture.

I would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand a post.

Did you order the Code Red?

Please tell me you have more. Phone calls and suitcases? Two men's lives are in the balance.

Except all the heroes are military people and the military system gets to the truth in the end.

He's not totally wrong. When the DoD read the script, they deemed that it portrayed the military in a bad light and therefore refused to endorse it (a DoD endorsement usually means that you are allowed to use equipment or personnel that are still in service).
That's why the 1996 fish Drill Team played the role of the Marine Silent Drill Team at the beginning of the film.

I like the movie, but I agree with OP. Tom Cruise was such a badass back then though. Top Gun, Risky Business, Rain Man, and A Few Good Men. Dude couldn't miss.

Guys like Col Jessup sound all badass, and they're useful to have around when shite hits the fan. But you'd better keep them on a short leash and firmly under civilian control. The beauty of our Constitution is that it does this quite well. In other countries, the Jessups of the world get up to mischief like overthrowing the government and installing themselves as military dictators.

They deem that shite for everything that doesnt suck major military peen while waving an America frick yea flag.
Of course they wouldn't endorse a flick that dares to portray a general who had completely lost his mind. Dude was stuck in the 60s era Cold War all acting like the fate of America was under threat from some Cubans to the point that his orders led to a soldiers death and a coverup.
The movie isn't anti military at all. Its anti pig headed dogmatic thinking taking precedence over logic. That the pig headed fool was a member of the military didn't mean it was anti military. It meant that even the people we might assume are the most admirable and upstanding can still end up being the villain when they let power go to their head.

Yea the doctor was actually the one at fault more than anyone and as far as Jacks "I run my unit how I run my unit" deal, yea.. what goes on at gitmo probably should stay at gitmo.
It's actually pretty harsh to say the military shouldn't "train" soldiers, because that would just be mean and all.. lol, and yea you can see the anti religious tone from script and the hollier than though attitude of the elitist little punk snot jags.
But dam,, Demi Moore in a uniform,.. yum yum.
please tell me the lives of these two soldiers don't rest on a phone bill..

I have gotten in so many arguments over people think that drill team was a real drill team. They fricking sucked balls.
One motion one sound...
and the drill team at the beginning of that movie just couldnt do it, they were awful, out of sync, multiple pops... and so many people online and in person defend them as good.
I was part of a unit that had a 6 time national champion Rotc drill team. We performed about a 15 minute silent drill routine that was flawless. We were so good the Commandant of the Marine Corp came to watch us perform and inspect our battalion.

You know it was based on a play written by Aaron Sorkin right, who adapted his play for the screen? And is also the creator of The West Wing, and The Newsroom, in addition to other idealized ideas of what a leftist run world should look like? And is also a noted mushroom abuser????
Seriously, I'm not sure it is anti-military, but Aaron Sorkin is a lefty.

You really think that the DoD is going to endorse a film in which one of the major plot points is the hazing death of a Soldier endorsed by and covered up by the entire chain of command?!
On its core, it's the typical, "only the young Soldier/rebel Lieutenant can save the day from the evil Colonel/General" motife.
Just because it has Tom Cruise, Kiefer Sutherland, Demi Moore, and Jack Nicholson doesn't remove that fact.
