On 4-20-00, I came as close to winning the Powerball as a man could come. I was dibble dabbling in college with not much direction or drive. I took a semester off of school and worked for an Valve service company, mostly in paper mills. The money was great for a single guy with no bills and the hours were insane. I was close to finishing a 40 hour day when I remembered I purchased a Powerball ticket before going to work a day and a half earlier.

I got the newspaper out and started he king my numbers. I had four numbers and the powerball. My other number was a 16 and the last winning number was 18. The difference between 58M at that time and $5,000 most likely saved my life. It was disheartening to think about for a year or so afterwards, but I'm certain I wouldn't have lived long if I had gotten my hands on millions of dollars at that point in time of my life.
