Max Fried was the Padres second best pitching prospect behind Wisler. He is a future 2-3 starter IMO.

Braves got swindled in Heyward deal (unless Jenkins becomes a #1, because Miller will not) and it looks like they're getting swindled here too. WHY ARE THEY TRADING VERY GOOD PLAYERS FOR PENNIES ON THE DAMN DOLLAR?

In the Braves defense, they acquired Upton for pennies on the dollar. I guess teams value power, just not power while being terrible everywhere else.
edit: And when the Braves got him, he had a reasonable contract for a few years. I'm kind of surprised they got any value for him. Probably would be the ideal trade deadline player.

I'm pretty surprised we didn't at least one of Wisler, Hedges, or Renfroe. Props to the Padres for doing all these moves and keeping their best guys.

I mean, you guys couldn't have expected to get back too much, especially considering what 1 year of upton is worth to the braves this year.
I'd be lying if i said i knew much about the players being sent to the braves. Not sure if the gamble of waiting until teams got desperate at the trade deadline this year would've been the smarter move.

I am very happy that we are building up out young players again. We were dominate in the 90's because of a solid amount of young players. J upton being around for one year wouldn't have changed anything. I like these deals.

Now I won't go into saying how good these prospects are, but I like the thought of building teams for the future. Uggla and bj contracts still give me nightmares.

I like the volume of players you got for upton. Don't know your system well enough to know if volume over top prospect is needed, or if you kept upton and got the QO if that one player would be better than anyone you got, or if settling for only 1 player is worth it.
I don't think you got fleeced by any means, but i don't see the sexy rebuild tool either.
