What do you mean "can't get a grip"? My OP had no emotion tied to it AT ALL.
Commenting and getting opinions on a coach's in game strategic abilities is "shitty"? Isn't that a big reason forums like this exist?
You're angry at a football coach who did nothing to you.

In his first year of rebuilding projects. I love how some of you love to throw those games out, yet ignore the context to try and defend Miles somehow. Notice that those only happened in his first years at the respective programs.
i don't give a fat rat phuck when they happened. LSU should never lose to UAB at home. Look at the roster we had in 2000. I love how some of you disregard those games so not to shine a bad light on your lord and saviour. revisionist history

I think he is what he is and it is not going to change. I've come to accept it. Positive and negative. Thinking LSU can simply out-recruit, out-physical, and out-talent the rest of the SEC teams won't be 80% effective anymore.
IMO the biggest difference is the landscape of the west has changed since he got here. The coaches in the west today are better game day coaches and better recruiters than what those schools had 10 years ago. The other schools are also trying to improve their facilities.
Moving forward it won't be the same as it was.

He is great with trick plays.
Isn't that coaching? I bet you wanted to blow Chris Peterson when he beat Oklahoma with trick plays in the bowl game a while back.

That is about it. He should demote himself to special teams coach only.
You're a fricking retard.

How often does Les out coach other coaches in the first 3 quarters? 5% of the time? 4th quarters are a lot easier when you aren't always searching for some miracle to undo the damage done in the first 3 quarters.

LSU wins a ton of games playing shitty football... Les brings the plane in for a landing most of the time because its a strong plane with lots of safety features(The players). Other times he nose dives the plane and we crash and burn. Thats Les football.

I don't know whether Les was outcoached on Saturday...but I don't know how you could have watched that shite show and not at least wondered.
Both sides of the ball got hammered and we appeared to have no answer until the end of the 4th quarter.
And by the way, if you weren't there to witness it in person, the television broadcast didn't even come close to doing justice to the total domination that State displayed on our home field.
They imposed their will...at will.

Miles... was late to see what a talent he has in Harris (true freshman at QB), but I think most coaches would have made that mistake also.

Typical Rant comment that every loss is 100% on the shoulders of Miles and each win is 100% the players and nothing to do with Les Miles.

Nope... Les is a descent coach and that will most of the time get the job done. But sometimes you need to be a superior coach. And I dont see that with Les Miles. Face it... LSU wins ugly and overcomes alot simply by having more fire power.
As for as losing... at the end of the day if I feel like LSU did everything it could in all phases of the game but comes up short so be it. You cant win them all. However, if they are not executing, or dont appear to have a good game plan, or they are not adjusting, or they are not giving 100%... Then I think its fair to be critical of the coaches or the team. More times than not, during the losses, I dont feel like LSU performing well at all in all phases of the game. And its usually stubborness (or ineptness) that seems to be the root. I just dont think our coaches have it in them to be imaginative. I think people that believe they are keeping it simple because the players are young is total BS. I think the offense is simple because the coach is.

Never, which explains all the losing seasons.
High school dropouts that work on the rigs, in the plants, on the road grader, inside the fast food joints, and even those hard core unemployed know more football than he does. The guys that are still playground legends or spend their entire day playing Madden or devour every word spoken on ESPN by experts, are smarter. I know that because I read the Rant.
Seriously, though, I often wonder how different posters determine who "out coaches" whom.

We got out everythinged Saturday night. It was an embarrassment. Les should be embarrassed, the player should be embarrassed, the fans should be embarrassed. Hell, the fricking waterboy should be fricking embarrassed.

I gotta give it to you Ballcaster, your sunshine pumping knows no bounds. How you remain positive after that game is beyond me.

quote:Simple. I, unlike most LSU fans, recognize and am comfortable with the complete separation between myself and the team. In no way does anything that happens to the football program reflect on my value or potential as a human. I'll admit that when LSU wins--especially against a certain school two states over--I may take a few minutes to bask in the reflected glory of the team I love. I'll poke my chest out and make fun of Gumps who have had their entire football seasons ruined because that's all they have in their lives to make them happy.
How you remain positive after that game is beyond me.
But when my team loses, I'm over it by the time I get to the parking lot or turn my tv off because I am an adult. The need for some of you to fight tooth and nail to convince others that Les Miles (and/or any of his coaching subordinates) is not a great coach is indicative of your inability to recognize and be comfortable with that separation. You are genuinely affected by an LSU loss, and you feel a pathological need to show us all how bad Les Miles is at coaching lest those around you see fit to conclude that it reflect on you personally. You have subconsciously allowed this make-believe connection to exist, and what you don't realize is that no one on earth associates you with LSU's football team, so when you go out of your way to bash Miles, the layman likely thinks, "Why the hell is this guy so obsessed with the idea that Les Miles sucks? Hasn't Les Miles done better at LSU than anyone else, even Saban?"
My favorite thing about people like you is that there is a disproportionate number of you who have never been affiliated with LSU at all, yet you still maintain this subconscious, unrealistic connection between the team and its personal reflection on you.
Buncha goobers.
