Early NFL attrition killed Bobby Bowden, Spurrier at Florida, Urban Myer at Florida, Phil Fulmer at UTenn and even Pete Carroll at USCw. It appears the mighty Nick Saban is the only coach that is not affected by this attrition.

The reason he is not affected is because he NEVER has an off year recruiting. Sadly, even though the 2014 class for LSU was very, very good...we are looking at finishing outside of the Top 12 in recruiting in 2015. More importantly, Bama, AU, Texas A&M and maybe even Ole Miss will all finish ahead of us in 2015 recruiting.

I say all of this to illustrate that we are nearing the end of this run in LSU history. I think LSU has some inherent advantages in college football and we will be back. But we will not be back under Miles and it could be many years before we realistically compete for a national title again.

It has been a great ride and it sucks that it is over....but make no mistake, it is over.

A&M coming to the sec is the worst thing that could have happened to us. Miles run is over but the sad thing is we cannot do anything about it for 2 or 3 years.

Sir,you are not thinking clearly, you're thinking as a broken hearted fan, and so that's not being objective.

As fans we change our opinions every 6 days as Lou Holtz once said...it's so true

6 days is all it take to have a complete change of perception .

South Carolina is probably feeling better after getting their arse kicked at home by A$M...

It's football, ...coaches are not stupid, they will figure it out...it's a long season

Miles is now in the twilight of his career here at LSU. The next 5-7 years will be a slow, Fulmeresque decline although not as precipitous. As Miles gets older and LSU's fortunes erode, he will not be considered an attractive coaching candidate for another school. The dynamics of the SEC and especially the West have changed. We had a good 15 year run.

It is going to claim it's next victim, Les Miles of LSU. Coaches who don't stem this tide, even though it may give what appears to be a recruiting advantage, discover it has teeth and will bite you and your team as youth just does not have the maturity or leadership skills that it takes to compete at the top levels of college football for long. The spiral has begun.

I suspect he sees the difference. But Nick Saban is currently astride all coaches in intensity and coaching savvy. And Alabama is, well... Alabama. Great record at LSU and all, Les Miles does not breathe that rarefied air. And maybe he is the best we can do, but... I'm thinking he's reached the end of his run. And I love the guy, even when he makes me mad as hell.

Wish it were not so, but last night I saw the same thing I remember seeing when it was clear Gerry Dinardo and Lou Tepper were done. I saw it in Les Miles' face. He had no answers and couldn't see the obvious future in his 2nd string QB Harris - even as Harris lit things up and almost single-handedly woke the team up for that last couple of TDs and that hail Mary pass into the end zone.

Jennings = JJ and that is not good for the Tigers, and Les doesn't know it.

strong words. our players resume' and our coaches resume' suggest to me you are wrong.

yes, we lost a football game to a very good team last night. at times we looked like shite and we have some question marks. that is all, nothing more or nothing less. many, many, MANY teams have bad games or bad stretches in a season. we should calm down and see howthe season plays out before we react.
