Only one I've ever seen was down around Raceland. There was nest about an hour deep into a cypress swamp. I had a patient in dental school who brought me back there to see the nest. Unreal how huge their nests are.

They had a couple nesting in Fountainbleau state park yearly just a couple years ago. I'm not sure if they still come back. I saw one fly about 30' off the ground while yakking down the tangipahoa a couple years ago. It was just cruising over one of those beaches and staring at us. Surreal.

Indeed. It is near Walker Canal.
Look to the south as you approach the exit from the west.
The nest was damaged by a storm and abandoned, but they have built another nest in the same area.

If anyone is around Mandeville harbor there is one perched in a tree on the other side if the harbor at the beginning of the east jetty. Got an iphone pic but really too far away to see. Also an osprey just a little north closer to the sailboat marina. Also saw an otter eating a crab on one of those steps that goes into the lake. Great morning!

Hmmmm, how far down are you?

BTW: Saw him heading down river at a pretty good clip about 30 minutes ago.

I see him all the time flying in front of house fishing, then he will land in a big tree across the street from the house.

When did he return? Yesterday was my first time to see him since spring, but I have been on the road a lot for work.

Nice shots.

We're closing on some land today on the coast of Florida. It's next to a wildlife refuge and when we were scouting it we found a Bald Eagle's nest on the refuge maybe 100 yards from our property. It locked in the decision to buy it. Beautiful birds.
