Isbell won artist, album and song of the year during the 13th annual awards show Wednesday night at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. Though surprisingly ignored by Grammy Awards voters, Isbell’s album of the year winner Southeastern reverberated through the Americana community and made many of 2013’s best-of lists.

I for one am not surprised it was ignored by the grammys

I feel like something is wrong with me because his music is very boring to me. I like a couple of his songs, but I skipped over most of them on his last album all 4 or 5 times I listened to it.

Jason Isbell isn't red dirt but maybe spaulding (red dirt expert) could shed a bit more light on the subject

His songs took me the longest to warm to with DBTs. They have now become my favorite for the most part. They often take time and multiple listens.

One of my favorite albums that i've listened to in a really long time. Even Super 8 grew on me after a while. Most of my favorite DBT songs were his too, fwiw.

Also, puts on a great show. I've always enjoyed seeing him.

As you will see from this Tier Rankings done by the previous Red Dirt Expert, Marc Brownstein, Jason Isbell is in the Tier 4 range. Which makes his album winning major awards a real darkhorse bet. Wish I could go back in time and bet on this one in Vegas.

Breaux, did you live at Brightside Manor?

I was a BBG rat at one point too...What was that dude's name? Joe something, played on Tuesday nights. Never saw more Cowboy boots, Ducks Unlimited stickers and jacked up trucks from BRCC folks in my life
