Oh, yes, tell me more about Nazi atrocities committed in the name of Christianity.
I never said they did that, but lets play that game. For what reason was a particular group of people persecuted in WW2 in Germany? Are you saying there was no religious overtone or motivation here?
quote:
In modernity, no faith has persisted in violence in the name of faith in the manner that Islam has.
Very true.

Moreover, it seems like you're implying that Christian violence was prominent, and now Muslim violence is. At best, they were both prominent, and Islamic violence still is. It's not like violence in the name of Islam is a new development.
You make a lot of assumptions and you seem awfully defensive.
My point was clear, don't group everyone who practices a religion under one umbrella. Its ignorant and makes you look absolutely stupid.
I used Christianity as an example because most in this thread can relate to it. I also clearly defended Christianity. You need to calm down.

im a Christian, and i disagree here. It isnt the religions fault there are some idiots taking it to extreme. Just like some "christians" give us others a bad name. I dont believe all muslims are this way, i have some very good friends that are muslim that would never be a part of this.
Don't tell Pettifogger that.

Correct, which is effectively acknowledging your predictions as worthless and founded upon nothing.
The rest of your post is so mind numbingly invalid as any kind of support for your position or retort to mine that letting it stand alone is just as effective as individually critiquing them.
What other place do people freely and willingly admit their complete ignorance and apathy on an issue and then proceed to present an argument on the matter? The fricking internet, that's where.

Only thing better would be if you replaced the word Alabama with Muslims.
I own that shirt in purple and gold
(there are plenty of redeeming qualities about Alabama, I just love to wear it to piss the people off)
ETA:
This one. I wear it in airports all the time and get great reactions

Thousands of German Muslims held a day of prayer against ISIS. Of course the Germans are leading the way in human rights and promoting peace and prosperity, just like they always have.

The shoe bomber was ON the plane when a mistake doomed his attempt. Same goes for the guy in Times fricking Square attempting a car bomb. How are you this obtuse?

Back to my original point, there are 1.6 BILLION Muslims in the world. A vast majority aren't psycho terrorists.

How do you know this? Maybe the "vast majority" just hasn't been called on to step forward and kill someone!

Ignorance of their belief system =/= ingnorance of what they are capable of doing. My point is I don't believe they have the means or ability now-a-days to pull off another attack on US soil. They nor anyone else will be able to pull off something like 9/11 again.
All these recent attempts have resulted in failure. I believe the trend will continue. We know our enemy and their capabilities which allows us to thwart any attempts.
You can continue to live in fear. You're letting the terrorist win.

I'm sorry but you're waaaay off on your history here by trying to connect Nazis and Christianity. The Nazis viewed Christians with about as much contempt as does the OT today. As for "religious overtones" in their persecution of the Jews, Gypsies, and Slavic peoples, there was absolutely none. The Nazis saw one thing as their driving force, RACE. They wanted a "pure Aryan" race to rule over a Germanic empire in Europe. And in addition to wanting to do away with "untermensch" they likewise wanted to do away with Christianity in Europe as well and replace it with a form of neo-paganism.
ETA: But if you do want to do some research, you'll find there actually was a bit of religious ties to the Nazis....
Haj Amin al Husseini
There was even special Muslim formations in the Waffen SS...

Passive-aggressive Jew hatred comedy. Hilarious as usual.
While we are defending Islam by bringing up things that other groups did in the foggy past, let's not forget that French revolutionaries beheaded 17,000 of their countrymen (and women and children) in less than a year fewer than 230 years ago.
I wonder if the current apologists would chastise a French aristocrat for looking askance at any lower-class people they came across during that time.
I will say that if in the next few years the threat from radical Islam dissipates to the extent that the threat from French revolutionaries dissipated post-revolution and doesn't return, then I would not expect our descendants to treat twenty-third century Muslims with suspicion. As for now, I think it makes sense for us to take reasonable precautions.
If you wonder when multiculturalism will begin dying, it will be right about the time Muslims start beheading Americans in America while screaming alluha akbar.

How old are you? My fear is letting the terrorists win? I guess our government is also in fear and letting them win by recognizing the threat they pose here and abroad and ACTIVELY pursuing them?
Our leaders and intelligence agencies also disagree with effectively everything you've said, soooo...yes, your ignorance is quite relevant and obviously extends quite beyond just their belief systems, which you don't care about apparently.
They are ALREADY here is the point. They are citizens and legal immigrants. They will continue to enter both legally and illegally. And them carrying out another "9/11" or nit is irrelevant. They can carry out low level murders and attacks if they choose. Not to mention your dismissal of their capabilities is also ridiculous and wrong itself.

Islam has to be the worst religion ever made
hmmmm... I understand this is not going to be a very popular opinion on this board (or anywhere else). I am certainly no ISIS apologist. But to single out Islam as "the worst religion ever made" is very short-sighted.
History is dotted with many religions going through extremist periods. Islam certainly is no different than many other religions throughout history. Including Catholicism and Protestant.
I found this graphic pretty interesting when evaluation of "worst" when it comes to violence/persecution/genocide/religious control/etc. (democide). I understand you identified "religion" - but throughout history, many religions were also combined with government - so, the graphic below is topical.

You do realize for them to carry out an attack over here that would send shockwaves through the whole country, these are the only tools they need....

Exactly. Wasn't this thread in relation to them plotting low level kidnapping a and beheadings?
People have been in shock and horror over the reporters in Syria. Imagine random kidnappings and beheadings of Billy and Sally USA taking place.

I've seen too many of your posts to be offended by anything you say. I'm just overly serious for this place, probably, but sometimes seriousness is appropriate.
Maybe one day wholesale slaughter of innocent people will seem serious to you too.
