It's stories like this that make being a good Samaritan a thing of the past unfortunately.

There's a difference between being a good Samaritan and rube. Kid is 19 so I cut him some slack. Bad deal.

Carmelo was probably trying to buy drugs and the guy said they had to meet someone else to get them. Once they picked up that guy he pulled out a gun and they robbed him and stole his car. He probably had to have this story so he didn't get in trouble yet still had a police report for insurance.

Possibly. We'll try and give the kid credit and sympathy for now, but unfortunately, the shadier version tends to be the truth.

Description of suspects might help

Riiiight. So if only the article had said, "black male approximately 5' 10" with short hair", that would have really narrowed down the pool of suspects, right?

Cops would have stopped pulling over all blond haired white girls?

Yes.

so you believe leaving out details that could possibly catch the suspects is a bad thing? Race, hair color, height, build, info on the broken down car...etc?

I guess the point of the news story was to alert the public not to be good samaritans?

They will always come up with ways to game the system. This is just another.

I'm not buying the story. Picking up one stranger, iffy, but I can see it. Picking up one, then driving and picking up another!? frick no. I guarantee you the kid was buying drugs when the car jacking happened. Guarantee it. Oldest trick in the book. Guy comes looking for dope, one guy tells him I'll take you to my dope man's house, just give me a ride and I'll show you. Dope man says give me a ride around the corner to the trap house. I don't keep the drugs on me. Then rob them in the car.

Yeah, I'm waiting for a follow-up news report stating this was a drug deal gone bad. Too many red flags makes his tale suspect.

Then he reports it to the police like a genius. This is certainly possible.

But he might just be a dumb kid with a big heart.

No need for a blanket policy. A little judgment and common sense goes a long way.

I have a wife and two kids. No time to pick and choose who might be a good guy or not. I don't know you, I don't help you. Sorry. Them's the rules. Too many shady people out there.

This is not even close to being true. You're need to be politically correct is shameful.
