No civilized society should be executing its own citizens. It's not surprising that a country that revels in violence and death like America would kill in the name of justice. But it pains me to say the Japan, my home, has the DP as well, although it's rarely used.

The system is flawed, yet as good as any other. The whole death penalty debate is partially a result of our multicultural society where there is rarely an accord on what is right or wrong, or what constitutes "justice".
