FWIW, cutting down tallow tree with a chainsaw just spreads it. Proper technique is to "ring" the trunk of the tree and then spray poison in it. He's just making more work for himself.

I've done a little bit of non-profit restoration work, and while good intentioned, most of the people have no idea what they are doing.
