It's not that. They just don't have the patents and they apparently can't afford to lease or buy the good stuff needed to print with better quality in greater detail and with better materials.
These guys are well known in the auto industry, and just built a huge service center near Detroit.

I feel ya Sabah Rival, more than anything it's the concept that I find really cool. You don't by chance own a 3D printing shop/studio in Lafayette do you?
