they don't see it as abuse because that would mean they were abused, and not many people want to admit that.

Did AP cross the line, I do not know.

I do know that as a society we need to protect our children from abusive parents. However, an arse whipping, one that made it painful to sit for days is not abuse. If it happens all the time and for no cause, then I agree it is not disciple, but abuse.

I was spanked, and have spanked my kids. My oldest more than the others. Even as a teen he laughs when talking about "trips to the barn". He knew he had it coming and still knows I did it because I love him.

Many are wanting to use this as an argument against discipline and yet it is this very lack of discipline in many homes that is responsible for many of the ills in our country.

Only way to discipline a 4-year old is to whip him with a switch more times than you even can remember and leave bloody marks for a week.

You're fricking clueless, man.

Actually, it is. Hitting a defenseless child is abuse.

If you're going to tell me you're too stupid to figure out how to discipline a child without hitting him, you're not fit to be a parent.

Find another way to teach toughness.

Perhaps you shouldn't be a parent if you're not sure whether AD crossed the line with his son.

My father spanked me as a child as well. Never close to the degree Peterson used, but I was spanked nonetheless. I don't have some agenda against spanking, but it is asinine that people want to equate the problems in this country with a lack of spanking.

There are some soft, immature, frick-up parents that do not discipline their children in any way, shape, or form, and there are some soft, immature, frick-up parents who beat their kids as well. Being pro/anti spanking doesn't make you a good parent.

Nobody is arguing against discipline. They aren't arguing against spankings. They are arguing against a professional football player leaving scars and making his kids bleed as a result of said discipline.

Yes I know that everyone today is too sensitive and everything was better back in your day

Dad whips 4 y/o until he draws blood and you don't know if the dad went too far? Maybe you were beat too much in the head as a child.

But hey I'll play along for a bit..if it's a good form of discipline then why do we not do it with adults? Why don't we tie the men who, let's say, get arrested for selling drugs to a tree and crack a whip across their backs? If striking children with objects has such great outcomes, which is obviously supported by the drones of people who had to pick their own switch to get beat with, then why don't we take that same philosophy and use it in adults. I'm sure all those same people who were hit as children would support it since it works wonders for making everyone become outstanding men and women.

I'm going to smack you because I love you. What did you do when he made you proud? Pop him in the jaw?

I sincerely hope we build a time machine, so you old fricks can travel back in time to see how shitty your society was.
