I just ordered $500 worth of wool. I just think you can't go wrong with wool. Damn it sure ain't cheap.

Merino wool. Synthetics eventually smell like old cheese. I hunt dn to -20 and wool is money. It's soft too. I use smart wool but there r cheaper brands

can someone link me to some good merino base layer tops and bottoms for cold weather? i would like to look at different brands. Something for when its in the 20s.

That stuff can be expensive. Sometimes Costco has it online for a very reasonable price. Sites like The Clymb also sometimes have it at reduced prices. I'm thrifty, and am not paying $500 for a base layer unless I'm climbing Everest or something.

any experience with the first lite stuff? I like that asat camo, but not sure what top and bottom would be best. they have different styles.

I've bought smart wool brand bout $100 for ls t shirt or long john's. I've bought 2 pr in last 10 yrs and both holding up well. U don't need a drawer full
