It would take an incredibly stupid couple of Heterosexuals to get married to each other.

Platonic people get married all the time for greencards. So what if they are the same sex?

Having ben married a few time s myself I tend to agree, but I know you meant heterosexual guys. Men and woman have entered into "sham" marriages to get health insurance, possible tax benefits, to allow a non-U.S. citizen to remain in the country, issues of inheritance and other financial concerns, now gay and same sex straight couples can engage in the practice.

So if gay marriage is legalized in LA are you going to marry your buddy for tax benefits?

So this isnt about same sex marriage...is it. Or equal rights. It's about the gheys wanting something

bullshite. It's about a few people, pro-marriage equality and anti-marriage equality in New Zealand who are upset a radio station is trivializing marriage:

[quote]Bob McCoskrie, director of the conservative NZ lobby group Family First, said condemnation of the radio stunt by gay rights groups was ironic. "This competition makes a mockery of marriage, but so did the redefining of marriage," he said. He described gay matrimony as "an arrogant act of cultural vandalism". Read more: LINK ]
[quote]Shelly Argent, a spokesperson for Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays, said the stunt was in poor taste. "This is two straight men who have done a wonderful job of trivialising marriage on their own," she said. "I hope it takes them quite a while to get the marriage annulled." Read more: LINK ]

Well the law will eventually, where it already doesn't, read "same sex" so I assume it won't be wrong. Nothing says you have to be gay to get hitched.

Since it really is "same sex" marriage not "gay" marriage the answer is no.

There would also be nothing wrong with a mother marrying her consenting adult daughter.

If people wanted it to be only "gay" marriage then it would have to be determined whether the two people wishing to marry each other are really "gay".

Would the county clerk issuing the "gay" marriage license require the two people to perform a "gay" sex act in front of him/her in order to verify that the two people are "gay"?

of course not, there is no test for gay. You have to take their word for it.

They can be completely celibate people and never have had sex, but all they need to do is say the magic words, "I am gay".

Poof, instant pseudo-minority status.

who knows?

it could be for tax breaks

it could be for a green card

it could be to mock the whole same sex marriage concept

some people are motivated by the strangest things
