Gonna book wife and I's honeymoon in Costa Rica soon (going next summer). Plan on staying 3-4 nights at the Nayara Spa and Gardens Hotel. We also want to venture out to the Pacific side of the island. Anyone have places, hotels or recommendations for things to do in Costa Rica, especially on the West Side of the country? Thanks in advance.

How many days total will you be there?
My husband and I went for our honeymoon in CR March 2013. Amazing trip.
We booked entire thing(except flights) through Gecko Trails. Travel company in CR. Literally stepped off plane and everything already taken care of. All transportation, excursions and hotels.
We flew into San Jose, spent 2 nights in Monteverde(rainforest high up in the mountains...gorgeous and amazing zipling); spent 2 nights in Arenal volcano area(must see); and spent 3 nights in Manuel Antonio on Pacific side.
My best advice if you want to hop around and stay in different places....PACK LIGHT!!!!
Don't bring a suitcase....bring a backpack like one would backpack through Europe in. Then you can take the small planes to each location. Instead of driving 4 hours. Don't let the maps fool you. It looks close together on the map but because of the road conditions....takes much longer than you think.
Our biggest regret was we packed too much and didn't fly to all our locations while there. Next time we go we will know better.
Excursions we did while there: zip lining, white water rafting, volcano hike and going to natural hot springs, rappelling waterfalls, and a failed attempt at scuba diving

Another resort near Arenal to consider(that is expensive but really nice) is The Springs Resort. We went there one night to enjoy their natural hot springs. Just gorgeous.

This was what I was coming here to post. Went for my honeymoon in January. Ask for room 50 at Nayara (top of the hill-you look down at the rest of the property). Ask for room 703A at arenas del mar (again, best views at the resort).
We chartered a flight to get between the two which was a lot of fun!

My wife and I went for our honeymoon a year ago but we stayed closer to Jaco at Villa Caletas. It was awesome. Someone mentioned Manuel Antonio...definitely check that out if you like wildlife. Just be wary about douches when you start getting close to the park. They'll make you park really far away and will be really pushy about it. If someone with a telescope asks you if you want a tour, I'd do it. We saw animals that we wouldn't have otherwise been able to see.
We also did a zipline tour with Adventure Park. I cannot recommend this enough. The guides were awesome and it was an excellent experience. Easily my favorite part of the trip.

Also, the video I made of ziplining with my GoPro: LINK

You should limit your travels to the Pacific side and hills. The East Coast stinks. There are two Marriott resorts on the Pacific that are great.
ETA: Our first trip there we put over 1000 miles on the rental in 5 days. We went everywhere. Second trip we chilled close to the resort and took it easy.

Check on their rain season before you book.

Quepos/ Manuel Antonio NP is not bad. Sport Fishing from Quepos is World Class.

You should go elsewhere unless your wife is a prostitute with a lust for cocaine.

We stayed here for our honeymoon. Fabulous place to relax. You will really enjoy the hotel. Make sure to make the drive here from San Jose during the daytime as driving through Cloud City at night sucks.
While at Nayara, I would suggest hiking to Rio Celeste. Rio Celeste is really beautiful and has some natural hot springs. Lafortuna was a sight to see as well, but much more crowded and not as beautiful.
Spend a half day or day doing the hot springs at somewhere like Tabacon. The hanging bridges provide some nice views, but you can pass if you don't have time.
We also spent time in Pacuare Lodge [ Pacuare Lodge] in the rainforest which was fabulous for a couple of days. The raft trip in was great and the grounds are amazing. The Linda Vista suite was ideal for a honeymoon.
We also spent a night on each end in San Jose which was not bad, but wish we had more time to make it to the coast.
Edit:
Rio Celeste
