The problem I have seen with the Eye-Fi cards is that they require power from the SD slot in order to transmit. Some brands of game cameras kill the power to the SD card very quickly after snapping a picture. This conserves a lot of battery, but it takes away the wireless transfer from the card.

That said, I have set pops up with Eye-Fi cards for his game cameras. God love him, but he is a complete imbecile when it comes to anything electronics. I grew tired of him calling me every time he tried to use the iPad to view pictures. I set up the Eye-Fi software on the iPad so now all he has to do is put the Eye-Fi card in the basic reader that comes with the card, then plug that into the USB 12v plug in his truck and watch the photos transfer on their own.
