If you have a Costco nearby I would make an appointment there, if you have normal prescription needs.

Their services are typically excellent and cost of eyeware is significantly less due to the fact they are not part of the luxxotica monopoly

If you are simply nearsighted, you could go to any WalMart and the doc there will be able to get you taken care of for probably around $100-$125. You'll get a trial pair and they will have ou wear them a week and have you back just to make sure they are fitting correctly and you are seeing good. At that point, the doctor will finalize the contact lens rx. You can take that anywhere you want. Walmart has pretty good prices on contacts. Can you save a couple bucks by ordering in bulk through 1800 contacts.

I don't even know if I have "normal prescription needs"...

That's what I'm asking, how much is the initial 'consult' without vision insurance...?
