Have the Tool guys offed themselves yet? They seem so depressed.

Do they know a tuning other than a Dropped D variant?

Phish >>>>> Tool

Tool has had more chart success, so I'd say them

Well considering the overwhelmingly Chad fanbase Tool brings to the table, I'd say Tool

i'm not a huge fan of really any of the recent stuff. I like the 1996 album aenima and 1993 album undertow.

some of the new stuff is ok, but a lot of it is not my thing.

I don't understand your logic

Tool is more talented than phish

Yet phish is better?

Makes zero sense

that is pretty ridiculous to judge a band off of the tuning they play in

most modern music is in standard EADGBE tuning. they simply tune the low E to D and play out of that.

their time signatures are far and away more advanced than anything phish has put out.

It is a pretty trite thing that metal bands do to make power chords easier to play, as well as create a dark, gloomy sound that appeals to people who weren't hugged enough as children.

Schism is nice and all, but... meh. Phish isn't exactly a slouch when it comes to odd time signatures.

tool does the most whacked out time signatures in popular music today.

phish holds their own, but tool in recent years have gone out of their way IMO to do weird time signatures.

and honestly, while impressive, doesn't endear me to them any more because of it. I liked when they were more straight forward tool. back in the 90's.
