The only truth in this statement is that you were only allowed to go through the food line once. The rest is 100% inaccurate.

I will say seating was inadequate, however you absolutely were not forced to sit on the floor. There wasn't anyone there directing people to sit on the floor and eat.

There certainly wasn't more people sitting on the floor eating than there were at tables. There was maybe 100 or so people sitting on the floor from what I could see. I wasn't doing a head count, but it wasn't some massive group either and far from the majority.

We were allowed to eat inside the area where the food was. I fixed a plate and posted up at an empty table with some others and ate. Finished my plate and made another one. Again, no complaints from our group or anyone else around us.

The Houston chapter representatives can be upset with the criticism all they want but most of the complaints on here are legit. The Better Than Ezra show at least made me feel a little better about the ticket price I paid, but the drink prices, long lines, lack of seating and lack of TVs were really a disappointment. All in all I regretted buying the tickets and should've found a bar to go to.

"PLEASE don't come to the next one or anybody's cause all you will do is complain like a spoiled brat! The chapter knows it was a success! Thanks to the thousands that showed their appreciation!"

The only reason you said the chapter knew it was a success because you sold a lot of tickets and probably made a lot of money. That really means shite, especially when you put out such a crappy event. Yes, you probably did not expect such a large crowd but who's fault is that?

It appears you're really too stubborn to admit the chapter's failings about this event. You need to take your head out of the sand.

Oh, and best of luck on your next event!!

This guy is really making the LSU Houston alumni group look bad. Seems like a whiny woman trying to defend himself.

for hosting a successful tailgate that had a great turnout.

The members of the chapter spent A LOT of time putting this together, especially the members of the board!

I hope those who attended enjoyed the event!

As far as our group, the event was a major disappointment. I am sure a lot of work was put into this. However, they didn’t put much thought into this or they didn’t care about the overall fan experience. The lines were long for everything & the food was awful. Cajun food, such as Jambalaya, should not be cooked by Texans. It was the worst Jambalaya I have ever tasted. Would I do it again? Maybe, but only because you would hope they learned from their mistakes.

What a complete dumbass! There were about 6k-7k people that showed up for this. A lot of which at the same time. There were many rushes thoughout the afternoon. Approximately 6-8 people worked the door. The turnout was greater than expected, but we handled it well as the line always kept moving. PLEASE don't come to the next one or anybody's cause all you will do is complain like a spoiled brat! The chapter knows it was a success! Thanks to the thousands that showed their appreciation!

No...what you need to do is quit promoting something that didn't come off as advertised. I'm glad YOU and yours had a good time but quit speaking for everyone else. It was not well organized and logistically speaking it was a complete goat fk!
Most people are simply stating it wasn't worth $50...that is all!

Ladies and Gents,

Since I planned the tailgate I WOULD like to thank all those that came and supported us! I would also like to apologize for all those that had issues. Having said that there are many misconceptions about the event that I would like to get straight. And we welcome any and all to help us if you have the time. The price was $50 pre-purchase AND at the door. The $75 was to get people to pre-purchase. Thank you to all those that did so. The food was ordered based on pre purchase. We were not able to order food for walk ups. We ordered quite a bit more than what was purchased to cover a large portion of the walkups. As you can imagine having an event of that magnitude costs a fortune! Having it at a convention center is worse! LSU Houston made nothing on the beer, wine and mixed drinks. The caterers were warned of how much Tigers can put down and they consistently said they knew how to handle the crowd. Remember, the Rodeo, which they handle has upwards of 100,000 people a day!

I'm sorry that anyone sat in lines. There were items that didn't show up that would have made the beer lines better. But there were 6 bars, all of which serving beer and mixed drinks. The food cost was $30+ per plate. SO anyone that hit multiple food lines or had seconds....well you can do the math. The rental of the room was not cheap. To rent a TV for the day was $750. That's JUST the TV. Does not include hooking it up or electricity being run to the TV's.

NOTHING will ever beat tailgating with friends and family on the campus of LSU. We all know that. The opportunity to throw a tailgate party at a neutral site doesn't come along often. We took this chance and did what we could with it! If we were allowed to have it outside and get whoever we wanted to cater the event we would have done a much better job but even outside we were held to the preferred vendor contract and the tailgate would have been shut down! Our hands were tied and the struggle was very real.

I'm sorry if some of you waited in lines for food or drinks. I'm sorry if you feel like the event wasn't worth it. You can sleep easy at night knowing that the little amt of money made on the event is going back to LSU scholarships and to help other LSU needs.

Suggestions for improvement are always welcome. Showing up and assisting and acting on those suggestions is what we need!
Thank you to everyone who showed up! Again I apologize to anyone who did not enjoy the party! To those that made the best of the situation as MOST Tigers do......Thank you! LSU Houston appreciates each and everyone of you for supporting the cause!
Cheers,

These guys are a bunch of miserable complainers. They are the same people who want to fire miles and always play the backup qb. They call our own players garbage and they aren't true fans. The tailgate from all accounts was professional clean and sanitary. The AC was blowing very cold and the band put on a outstanding show. If anything you guys under charged for the experience.

We obviously didn't attend the same event... And way too drag CLM into the debate. GFY!

You are either blind, or was there at the very beginning or very end. It was MASSIVE. More people on floor.

Then you cheated and if are a man of honor, will send in another $50 to the alumni association. They removed a tag from your arm band when you went to get food. There was only one tag. You stole from LSU.

Man, I'm glad I went to Midtown instead although that was almost too packed as well. I eventually waiting like 45 min at Gaslamp and got a seat at the bar and then had everything I needed. I was going to go to the alumni tailgate but the line to get in looked like it was gonna take 30 minutes, and then when I walked down the line to go buy a ticket I couldn't help but think "these do not look like people I want to tailgate with." Didn't see anyone my age (22) hardly.

Good synopsis and I'm sure everyone on here understands that your hands were tied. However, your colleague spouting off insults because some on here spoke their opinion about the event is not putting your association in the best of lights.

Had he come on here and presented what you laid out like you did, this thread might have turned out differently; calling everyone idiots and dumbasses only stoked the fire.

Walk Ons tailgate was pretty good. And it wasn't catered by crappy arse Aramark. Why in the world would you have Aramark cater your tailgate?

Well said. Anyone that has ever planned anything knows it's tough to deal with a set vendor when you have little say.

I would honestly suggest that if you're going to charge someone $50 and give them one pass through the line for a sandwich or taco, you at least provide them with an area to sit and eat, other than a concrete floor. To me, that was the most frustrating part of this. Sitting on the floor with people walking over you, trying to enjoy your food.

This guy is an exponentially better PR person than stephen . It's like the 12 year old daughter gets to the mic early and starts dealing with unexpected complaints and then the father has to come clean everything up.

Well, there was 5,500 people there, so the opinion of a couple of people certainly does not break it. I personally, along with EVERYONE else it knew there which was about a dozen people, all enjoyed ourselves. Youre always going to have the idiots you can NEVER please.

The problem is that you have to be able to take criticism and move forward to get better next time. You're just asking for people to be assholes when you freak out over it. I've gonr to Bonnaroo every year for the past four, and every year they get better because people hated things about it the previous year. To be honest, you're being pretty childish about this. No one likes to pay to wait in lines. Deal with that for the next event.

Oh, here's a good example of how someone should act in this situation.
