Not really. Contact wearers are at risk of all kinds of things if they don't properly care for their eyes and their lenses. An annual or every other year checkup is necessary to make sure the patients are compliant with the proper way of taking care of their eyes.

Also, minor changes in vision do happen. Patients thinking they know best isn't always the case. It's part of routine healthcare.

There are a ton of "stupid" rules/regulations that make you do something in order to get what you want/need. Contacts are a luxury, and wearing them can sometimes cause eye problems that a person may not necessarily be aware of.
