What's the BSOD code/message?
116
quote:
How do you know the video card is causing it?
I ran an app that pointed me to the driver.
quote:
When does it happen (what applications/games, etc)?
embarrassing, but it happened twice on facebook today, forgot the other time.
quote:
Have you checked temperatures during use before it crashes?
have not checked temps
quote:
What model/specs is the laptop?
hp pavilion g7 1316dx with AMD dual core A4

And if you just want to buy a new one because whatever, what do you intend to use it for?
main use is simple work functions, but I do have steam downloaded, and play some browser games as well.

Could be heat, drivers, power delivery issues, only way to know is to check temperatures, reinstall chipset drivers, and try to reproduce the issue. Facebook uses a good bit of Flash that's known to cause problems with certain drivers, particularly in AMD cards.
As far as getting a new laptop, I'd consider this ASUS to be pretty versatile for light gaming: LINK
I may be overestimating what kind of Steam games you'd play. Browser games are a non-issue. You may be more interested in something like this LINK , which can function as a tablet. Those are both ASUS laptops, purely by coincidence. I was just picking a sampling of options. There are so many choices in the $600-$1000 range that it would be impossible to find the "right" one. In that price range, look for:
8GB RAM minimum
1920x1080 resolution
Intel i5 or i7, or AMD A10
And as I always say, consider lowering budget and spending some on an SSD to replace or amend the HDD.
