I was a bit off. Jarvis Landry was #5 and Odell Beckham, Jr. was #25 in the country for "Long Receiving Plays".

I think that has more to do with AJ's limited arm strength. That first bomb he threw was pretty impressive because he basically hit Dural in stride on the run. I do think Dural had to stop A LITTLE but not a complete stop. He was still running fast enough to torch those slow DBs. I'd have to see it again. I still found that throw impressive when you look at the play.

Got to give credit to Dural for adjusting on the play and not giving up too. Great teamwork there with QB to WR.

I love AJ's mobility, and I love how he's not afraid to throw while on the run.

It's amazing. He has impressed me with his accuracy on roll outs. That first TD to Dural on the run was a thing of beauty. That ball was place perfectly with a nice tight spiral.

AJ being able to throw on the run is what will beat alabama

cam is going to have to roll him out of the pocket

If Alabama gets pressure on us, I will be very disappointed.

Some of those deep incompletions were spot on though. There was one to Dural where "incidental contact" prevented him from catch it.

There was one to Quinn that the DB did a great job to break up.

He threw some other good deep balls that were incompletions, that even though they were probably bad ideas, i.e. double coverage, were thrown into a tight window and I was impressed with the quality of incompletion that they were.

I know. And, I said this recently, I loved how Dural saw AJ roll out and decided to change direction AND HE KEPT HIS EYES ON AJ. The hookups will be glorious this season.

They caught some long balls but I'd bet a lot of Jarvis's yard were after the catch. He was pretty much gauranteed to break the first tackle.

I was impressed with AJ's potential as well. I just don't understand why CC was calling so many deep passes. He looked
much better once he started throwing intermediate routes

Rex, you have just proven that your football acumen is as shallow, twisted, misguided and wrong as the rest of your world views. Go back to being a laughing stock on the Poli board.

Reading comprehension is not a strongsuit around here apparently because the OP is correct on all talking points the way I see it. Unless I put on my Mettsiah colored glasses.

Key phrases to notice and the placement thereof. "better long pass" "frozen ropes" "more dangerous"

Argue with a stump I tell you

Diarse, Dural, Quinn, Dupre is such a sick WR core combo

sounds like Doucet, Bowe, Davis, and Lafell IMO

sorry, this post was not on topic. I just starting thinking about deep bombs for TDs for LSU and started WR fapping

The one to dural was overthrown and the one to quinn was too far inside. Quinn almost made a spectacular catch tho. I just don't understand why the coaching staff felt the need to force the deep ball so much. Makes me wonder about the int's by Mett in the Ole Piss game

I was VERY impressed with the accuracy. A little amped on a few of the real short passes, but the long ball was impressive this game.

As someone who watched AJ in High School and wish him the very best of careers as a Tiger, what I saw in his long ball was a little concerning...I saw too much air under the ball at times...SEC DBs will close in on those throws where he got away with them Saturday night...He will improve, but to suggest he throws a better deep ball than Mett at this point in his career is a far reach...

He's hit almost as many long balls with the receiver "in stride" as Mett did all last year. If I'm wrong find them for me

Mett last year was all you can ask for in a quarterback, but that's not the debate here.

I liked it for one major reason. Wisconsin showed no ability to stop it. I think we should have thrown the ball a lot more early in the game.

Totally agree with this. The high arc trajectory is concerning; that being said, I love AJ's upside, his calmness and his mobility.... He can be a good leader for this bunch.
