No.

The takeaway from last night, however, is that there are zero excuses for the LSU offense this year. A&M replaced a Heisman winning QB, a 1st round tight end, their top 3 wide receivers, and a 1st round tackle, and yet their offense last night looked better than it had last year.

We've recruited well, and have talent and speed everywhere.

No excuses.

A&M had a better O than us last year and lost more games.

Whats their excuse?

We run a different style of O than A&M. If people want that, you can go buy a A&M T-shirt and be gay.

Our style works and works well.

we could get 200-250 ypg type of production from either of our QBs?

No problem, book it.

No one is advocating that we should adopt A&M's offensive philosophy.

The point is that any potential ineptitude on offense this year shouldn't be excused because we're "breaking in new, inexperienced players", especially when other teams in our division have done the same thing without missing a beat.

Hill had 60 passing attempts last night. We won't reach half of that.

My god. How many 1st year starters has Cam coached at LSU???

News flash, this is the 1st one.

And again I will say, our style is more in depth with regards to the reads the QB has to make. Just look at Mett vs JFF. JFF knows next to nothing about reading a Defense.

you simply can't remove scheme from this argument though...LSU is going to rely on a run-heavy, play-action strategy. The QB's won't have gaudy stats and the team isn't going to score 50+ points.

I think Hill had 60 pass attempts. I'm thinking any one of our qb's won't hit 60 attempts until Miss St. game.

Flynn had one good NFL game that launched him to millionaire status and he is not good.

Hill has had one good game. Let's see how he does for a few more before we anoint him as [pick your adjective]

Now that's just a foolish statement.

This x1,000,000.

(and this is why Speedy Noil is not wearing P&G. aTm's offense fits his style perfectly, as painful as that is to admit)

No one is talking about gaudy stats and scoring 50+ plus.

Yes our offense is a run first offense. But to say that our offense is "too in depth and complex" to expect average production from the QB position is a copout.

Personally I have no idea what to expect from our QBs, but youth and lack of experience shouldn't be used as an excuse.

Our passing offense is based largely on player execution. QB and WR reads, route running, check downs, etc. Inexperience at both QB and WR necessitates a more conservative approach. A&M's offense is based on scheme and play-calling. If the play-caller has the DC's number, the QB and WR's are just playing pitch and catch. Even Gary Crowton could make a DC look silly at times.

Hill played well last night; however, I will not give him that much credit until he faces a real D and not one that did not even bothered/couldn't rush him...

Why would they need to when LF is going to rush for 400 yds and 5 TDs?
