If S Carolina wins the SEC and finishes 12-1, they are in easily. And rightly so.

It's never going to happen, but that loss last night does not eliminate them.

Not if they run the table and win the SEC. If you want to get in to the playoff, don't give up 52 points at home.

It would have to be a 2011-type situation. A West team would need to go undefeated and win the SEC, and another could only have one loss to the champion.

Experts can be wrong, sure. But the experts adjust their rankings for teams' actual performance throughout the season. The committee won't take teams based on how they were projected to finish in August.

Sure this has been said already but:

SC can still win the SEC theoretically and if they do they're a lock for the playoffs. And even if they don't, I have a hard time feeling sorry for a team that gives up 50+ in a home opener.

There's a very good chance that Auburn and Bama would have been selected last year.

And LSU and Bama would have definitely gone in 2011.

4 contenders selected by a flawed system is always better than 2 contenders selected by a flawed system.

even though many do not like the BCS.. and I must agree that in some cases there was a strong argument for the 3rd team and in some cases the 4th team, there was rarely a case to be made for the 5th team...
thus my point.
the math/computer formula system should have been kept and 2 more teams just added into the mix without a committee. The committee just ads POLITICS into the mix, As knowledgeable as some of these people may be, there is no way that they can watch all teams play multiple times to get a FAIR evaluation.

Instead of making the system better, we have totally screwed it up. Yes, we will have 4 teams, but they will likely not be the right ones.

2007 Final BCS Rankings 1. OSU 11-1 2. LSU 11-2

Seriously, you must..... not..... watch.....college football. can't just take records into account, you have to take into account the quality of wins.

Two best teams made it in. Most people didn't think any team belonged with OSU....heh heh

At any rate, LSU didn't play a Div I-AA team like a lot of the others did.

quote:

3. Va Tech 11-2

Actually, they were 11-3. Not only that, they lost already to the #2 team. Sooo.....

quote:

4. OU 11-2

Ahhh another 11-3 team.

Well, if not for the NCAA violations that landed them on probation, it would be the terrible loss to fricking colorado.

Next?

5. UGA 10-2

Couldn't even win their division.

6. Mizzou 11-2

Scheduled a rent-a-win against a I-AA team. You want to schedule creampuffs? Go ahead, just don't cry like a bitch when other teams that schedule better OOC teams pass you by.

Next?

7. USC 10-2

Weak OOC schedule. Again, if you want to get into the championship game with a loss or two, play someone of quality.....like VaTech

Next?

quote:

8. Kansas 11-1

Wow look at the OOC Schedule:
CMU
SE Louisiana
Florida International

I mean holy frick, if they had any more creampuffs they would have died of a heart attack. That's why they were #8.

Next?

quote:

9. WVU 10-2

Really tough OOC schedule there:
- Western Michigan
- Marshall (have to play)
- Maryland
- Eastern Carolina

There's more fat on that schedule than on rosie o'donnell's arse. Ok, I get it - you have to schedule Marshall. Guess what? try and schedule a game with a GOOD I-A team not fricking maryland, eastern carolina, and western michigan. Are you trying to prove you are good enough to win a natty or the fricking sunbelt conference?

quote:

10. Hawaii 12-0

OOOOH BUT THEY WENT UNDEFEATED!!!!!!!

oh wait, untill they got assraped by Georgia. Let's look at their strength of schedule. To be fair, you're in the WAC, so if you want to win a natty, you'll have to schedule someone talented....like maybe.....someone averaging higher than a .500 conference record the last 5 years. Let's see who you got:

- Northern Colorado
- Charleston Southern
- Washington

In summation, GTFO with that bullshite
