Had a chance to do the right thing and shite the bed.

Anytime a poster recommends him, I need the board's help in remembering to post this editorial and thread.

What he says is not that bad, I feel like it's his opinion and it's ok. He is skewed in one direction of course, but it's not terrible.
You agree with his accusations of misinformation?

The bigger issue I think is the overall fishery population estimates that the Feds use to set the catch amounts. From what I understand, if the population count would be correctly performed then the other stuff might work it's way out.

I deal with this type of shite on an everyday basis

I agree but this is not on the table right now.

When you look at this objectively, it is a fair compromise.
What a dipshit.... YOU GET PAID..... Therefore you are not a recreational fisherman and your catch should not be taken out of the rec's quota. You are a Commercial fisherman.

No, but what do you expect the man to say? He's a commercial fisherman trying to save a part of his livlihood.

Yep, which is why the allotment should be included in rec quota.

Can you clarify this opinion? Charter allotment is already included in the quota. Just not understanding you.

That's what I mean, it's all one recreational amount. There is no reason to divide it further.

I don't mean to be confusing.

Since I’m not allowed to take my customers red snapper fishing in state waters when the federal waters are closed

In the article he said the above statement. What are the laws on charter fishing in state waters? Are all charter guides off limits in state waters?

I went last weekend and had two big charter boats/guides trolling around me while I was tied up to the rig. I was in state waters and they were fishing for Red Snapper.

I think part of the permit requires them only to fish the federal season when taking a charter. They run the risk of getting it yanked if caught. A lot of charter guys get around it by saying they are on a friendly unpaid trip.

Rec fishermen also get ticketed for 3-10 miles by the "fed", so we all face a risk.

im on the other side of the argument. It should come from both. If not i should be able to take paying customers out on my boat as a charter without a for hire licence

Exactly, he acts like red snapper are the only fish people want to catch. If you are paid to put people on the fish and you call yourself a pro, you need to learn how to target more than one species. Unfortunately, they get lazy and cheap and go after the low-hanging fruit 9 times out of 10.
