I agree with this. I wish we would've had Cam a year or two sooner.

Tough one.
JLee played almost spotless ball until the gump game. JJ then joined the fray so together they led us to 13-0. It'll be tough to top that.

Pretty certain the 2014 guys put up better stats though without reaching that win total.

Guess it ultimately depends on whether you're judging W-L, or statistics. So I'll go with worse since W-L is more important imo.

Lee was very efficient until Jefferson came back and started splitting time. So I say worse for regular season. The 2 post season game were the worst I've ever witnessed a QB play though. It was like watching an injured deer try to swim.

It will be better. The difference between Stud and Cam is daylight and dark. Sadly, the surrounding pieces (mainly the defense) are nowhere remotely close to 2011.

Worse

QB play was actually pretty solid in 2011 sans the SECCG and when we played Bama

We were so far above the competition athletically that year it wouldnt have mattered who played in most of those games.

I tend to agree with this...though I'd add only worse by a bit.

Both 2014 guys are in a better position mentally than Lee was in 2011...having had his difficulties to the point where fans suggested that the mere presence of Jefferson on the sidelines spooked Lee. Miles never seemed to trust Lee after his RS freshman year and even when he was playing efficiently it always looked like the other shoe was about to drop.

We all know how limited Jefferson was.

The young guys, while not having much experience, also don't have any bad memories. They also have the benefit of having Cam be their OC and QB coach, which means a TON.

And...while the D may not be 2011 level (it may, but 2011 was otherworldly) the running game ought to be much better, so neither QB will be pressed too often to have to win games.

As the year rolls on, I expect both to makes great strides.

People really sleep on how well Lee played that year. Outside of the Bama game, the guy was ridiculously efficient.

In his first 8 games that year:
63.2% completion
1250 yards
8.1 yards/attempt
13 TDs
1 INT
157.4 Passer Rating

If we get anywhere near that from either of Harris or Jennigs, I'll be shocked. It could happen, but I just don't see it as likely.

In his first 8 games that year:
64.29% completion
654 yards
9.34 yards/attempt
5 TDs
1 INT
163.48 Passer Rating

That's right. Lee was the "most efficient passer"* in the SEC prior to the championship games, except that Jefferson was even more efficient than Lee. Lee was called the "most efficient passer"* in the SEC prior to the championship games because Lee had enough starts to qualify, and Jefferson did not.

I agree.

However, In the Oregon game:

Lee 10 / 22 for 98 yds 4.5 yd/att 1 TD 0 Int 50.9 QBR

Soooo...let's all not freak out IF the QB is not super in the first game.

I'd say worse at the moment, as there's no way that two QBs with near-zero game experience are better at this point than two seniors.

May not be the case at the "back end" of the season, as Les likes to say, but that remains to be seen.

Yep.

Less experience for sure, but also a lot more talent and a lot better coaching.

this will be Lee circa 2008 bad to begin with. think they will show improvement as the season goes on but its going to be rough going to Aub and Florida on the road. that it is too much to ask. you are going to have to score lots of points to beat Auburn no matter how good your D is.

Lots of passes to the RB's and TE's. I see a lot of slants as well.

Manziel's worst game was his first game . . . if you don't count when he played LSU.

2014 will be a return to 1960's football. LSU will beat the teams that they can steamroll. Others will be tight games.

Expect a lot of punting.

Yes.

In fact, each of the last three regular season games were better offensively than any of the other games in 2011. Jefferson started those last three games.
